Do you think private colleges would be less inclined to give scholarships to waitlisted student, because they gave it all away to those admitted or would they be more inclined in order to get you out of your previous deposit commitment to another college?

They have a long list of WL students, so if you don’t want it, they will just move on. They won’t need any incentive to get you to accept. Better endowed schools may still have FA money left for WL, but not as likely at smaller schools. If you are full pay, you’ll have a better chance of getting off WL this year.

Most are much less likely to give scholarships to the waitlist candidates and many will only take full paying students on the list.
