Waive access to recs?

Is not waiving access to rec letters bad in the sense that it shows a lack of confidence in self and teachers?

While not waiving may not leave as good an impression as waiving, I don’t think it really matters all that much when it comes down to it.

Waiving recs is generally designed so that admissions staff can be confident that the recommender wasn’t under any pressure to artificially make the person sound better than they are.

If you really feel the need to, I doubt it’ll hurt, but don’t just withhold the waiver just for the hell of it.
