Replying to keep active, still early.
Do decisions come out on a true rolling basis or on one date for all in a round? If you submitted/did interview by Sept 10 will you find out same day as someone who finished Sept 30?
If you apply in September you find out at the end of October. Our student applied at the very end of August and the AO said he was in the September pool.
Has Wake ever sent out a rejection letter before the announcement on the portal? We can see our USPS preview, and there is a regular letter from Wake. In the past, you knew a small envelope was a rejection vs the big envelope with registration info. Of course, we are past that, but seeing a regular letter still worries me. We’ll find out tonight as our mail does not come until late.
Echoing the other comment, it is on a rolling basis in the sense that the sooner you apply the sooner you get a response but it is not however down to the hour, day or even week that you apply. They divide/pool the applications across a greater time frame than that - likely by month. So if you applied when the window first opened in early August you and likely those who applied at some point in August will all together be the first so called group to hear back. Someone like you who applied on Sept 10 will likely hear back along with everyone else who applied at any point in September - likely in October or November.
Do decisions usually come out on the last Friday of the month?
Is that for ED which is binding? Or is wake truly rolling?
From the Wake Forest website:
Early Decision I lets you apply early in the fall and hear back from us on a rolling basis. EDI is binding, meaning, if admitted, you will have committed to being a Wake Forest student.
It seems they mostly release on the last Friday of each month. Next Friday is Wake family weekend. Would they still release?
Interesting! I haven’t seen ED rolling before
US News & World Report just came out with the new 2026 college rankings and Wake Forest continues to plummet, now at 51 after years of being T30, last year was 46.
Wow!
I wonder what WFU President Susan Wente has to say? Previous administrations had done an outstanding job in boosting Wake’s rankings.

Yes, not sure if you are aware, but in 2024 USWR totally shifted its criteria to more heavily weight Pell grant recipient enrollment and social mobility and eliminating things like class size, alumni giving, high school standing, etc. Wake predominantly enrolls full-pay high achieving students and emphasizes strong undergraduate teaching, D1 sports, and an enthusiastic alumni base. The school didn’t change anything it was doing to cause the drop, it’s the same school it was earlier on.
You kind of have to do your own analysis; whether Wake is a school for you or not is not a question that should be answered by USNWR unless you are prioritizing the same criteria.
Thank you…is it possible the “social mobility” weighting incorporates a “diversity, equity and inclusion” component?
Did anyone apply in August and is hoping to find out a decision tomorrow? Looking back at past years, it seems that the last Friday of the month has been a consistent occurrence, even if it coincides with family weekend at Wake.
Anyone that applied in August heard anything? Hoping would be tonight
Have you heard??
