@deidrefh - you sound like an awesome candidate! Your app is also very much like my son’s app…but didn’t submit SAT (it was 1520) but submitted 35 ACT. My son did not request an interview - how recently did you do that? We are in TX, and although we did visit when he was a JR, we haven’t been back on campus since then.
Did anyone find out if they are still only notifying through mail or if the new VP of enrollment changed it? I saw that last year’s acceptance packets/letters of rejection or wait listed were mailed out March 22. If they still mail it out then I wonder if it’s safe to assume that it will be mailed on March 20 this year. Just trying to get mentally prepared for my daughter.
Hard call, though Wake’s apparent love for this way of handling notifications makes me think ut may stay pat. Seems like an acceptable compromise/tweak would be to establish a date (few days after mailing date) whereby you could check your portal if your acceptance or no had not arrived. Tell prospective families we will have your decision online March 26 or something, with the plan being to mail decisions the 20th, 21st or so. That way most people should already have their nice big acceptance packets, but the ones that haven’t heard yet have a concrete day they can find out.
My son and I are in the same waiting boat as you. One hates to ask but I wonder what role the virus shutdown of campus instruction next week may play in all this.
My S got in EDII. There was a status update in his portal. He did not receive notification via email. He got his admission letter about a week later in the mail. So check the portal.
hey I just thought I would let everyone know that WFU said that the coronavirus/ closure would not affect the RD timeline so we should still expect to see our decisions by the end of march-most likely either 3/26 / 3/27 because ED2 decisions came out on a friday if i’m not mistaken.
Question…my son was informed he was a finalist for the Presidential arts scholarship and will need to interview. Do you think he can assume he was accepted? Thanks for any thoughts
Yes, I would definitely say this means an acceptance.
Just saw on the admissions Twitter account that they are still sending out decisions by the 1st of April. I am assuming they will send out letters this Friday since they sent them out March 22 last year. Good luck to all!
I emailed my admissions counselor and he said decisions will be up tomorrow afternoon/evening
Oh wow! That’s earlier than I thought. Good luck to everyone!
does anyone know what time they usually release?
will the decisions be posted or mailed?
We head from admissions that it would be 5pm.
That’s my question exactly. Unless I’m mistaken, decisions are mailed and you only find out by opening box and seeing a nice, big packet or sadly, thick or thin envelope. So, decisions would get mailed today but no one would know decision status yet, right?
looking at the ED thread, it looks likes the portal is updated before physical letter arrives.
Thanks, that would be a change (and a good one) this year, right? Looking at 2023 threads, it seemed you had to just wait for the letter.
I hope that’s true!
Also, we’ve received acceptances (and denials) that are just single letters - gone are the days when there were “forms” to be filled out for acceptance, so look and weight of packages means little in 2020!! Good luck.
Not a big deal but apparently Wake does still employ the thin envelope (rejection), thicker (waitlist), big black and gold (acceptance) model.
DS was admitted ED in October. A “status update” was posted to his portal a day before he received his acceptance packet in the mail. He came downstairs and said “I got in.” The packet did not show on USPS Informed Delivery, as opposed to rejection notices which are visible on the USPS email. The WFU acceptance packet is a large envelope, considered a “package” in Informed Delivery.
This is different from prior years where US notices were only by mail. When DD was admitted RD three years ago, we literally stalked the postman for days.
So glad for the change, thanks for the info.
