i’m looking to possibly apply to wake forest. i love the campus and how small it is as well as the academics. i’m from the north so im not used to some of the southern ish culture but im definitely interested in rushing. however, i’ve heard some bad stories about some of the top sororities and how only people with connections get in. im not super concerned about sorority status im looking for the best fit but i do like some of the top ones and im just curious as to if its a rumor or theyre that insanely exclusive. thanks!!
Wake Forest has rush during Spring semester, so you’ll have plenty of time to figure out which are likely to be a good fit for you. Both my kids were fairly proactive in fall grabbing lunch with actives in different sororities and fraternities during fall semester and that helped. They were the only ones from their town at Wake and didn’t know anyone at all. They both had a good experience. A lot of students join professional fraternities and other organizations instead of going Greek. For example, the business frat is a big deal and is a lot of fun. I would recommend keeping an open mind and look for fit, not status.

P.S. Apparently there are a lot of students from wealthy families at WFU. Just read that an acquaintance (a host at a major news network) has a child attending WFU. The parent is so enamored of the school, that this parent purchased a house near campus for personal use. You’ll love WFU.
