Wake Forest, University of Michigan, or ND?

I currently live in New York, but I am from Michigan, so I don’t think I want to attend a college so close to where I used to live, and am hoping to avoid doing so. It’s also wayyyy too big for me.

I was hoping to narrow down my choices to Wake Forest and Notre Dame, but I’m still not so sure. I have heard of both schools that the experience can be somewhat limiting, and I don’t think that is what I want. I am a fairly adventurous person in many ways, and I’m not sure if I’ll fit the stereotypes for either school… However, I do love that both have a tight-knit community and plenty of activities available for students. I am definitely academically focused, and I really love the small class sizes and overall teaching rankings at Wake. I am not yet sure if I want to go Greek, as I am a fairly independent person, but that also may change. Regardless of what I do, I’ll definitely be involved in a bunch of activities. I’m somewhat turned off by the parietals at Notre Dame and I am definitely looking for a decent social scene. Given these things, I don’t know which is best?

I would really appreciate any insight!

I can speak from experience on parietals. At ND they are midnight Sunday through Thursday and 2 am Friday and Saturday. Unless you have a single room, parietals are meaningless, because you are limited anyway because you have roommate. If they were earlier, yes I can see the problem.

Wake is very similar to Bucknell socially. ND is very different socially, much less drinking and drugs on the ND campus are very rare. While ND is very cohesive as a school there is serious loyalty to one’s residence hall, which is very fun.

There is a great social scene at ND but less about getting plastered.
