You all have to keep in mind a couple very important things when looking for schools. It does not matter how your school’s ranking looks today, rather what it will be in four years when you graduate. I saw many make this mistake. Recruiters won’t look at the ranking when you came in as a freshman, but instead when you are about to graduate. For example. I have seen many match UConn against other schools. UConn is on the verge of becoming an academic powerhouse. There is more money being poured into making it a top level university than any other school in the nation. I am confident that in about 4 years UConn will be in the lower 50’s, if not in the top 50. Also, don’t just depend on the overall ranking of the university. It just gives a broad picture of the school’s overall quality. It is not a perfect ranking, not even close. The thing to realize is that each school has it’s specialties. Lastly, don’t go by US News Business rankings for undergrad. They are awful, and rely solely on a survey. Business Week is coming out with an undergrad ranking soon, and that will be much more accurate…but not perfect either. Example of why business school rankings do not stink:
Villanova is ranked like 90 in the undergrad business category. Here’s the truth folks…Villanova should be in the top 50. If you don’t think so, just look at the career services section on their website, and see how many top firms recruit there. Hello?!
