I like wall calendars, & I have one posted on my bathroom wall where I add events I want H to remember without having to remind him ( or myself).
The girls also like having the visual reminder without having to open a window on their computer.
I haven’t had a chance to look for a new one this year ( the past couple years, Ive used the free ones from colleges or our bank), and was curious what kinds other people like.

Do you still use a wall calendar? Those daily calendars seem pointless to me because I need to see the whole week at least & until today I didnt even know if I was going to need one for 2013! ;)

I magnet one onto the side of the fridge. I would love to buy one, but out of guilt I always end up using the ones we get from charities like World Wildlife Fund or Nature Conservancy.

I still use a wall calendar (usually with photos of the breed of my dog or cats) which hangs on the magnetic white board in my kitchen, but I have to admit I wait until January 2 to buy one for 50% off. Meanwhile, my 2013 appointments are all squinched on the bottom of the December 2012 page. There’s a little cheapskate in all of us, right?

I have been using my Google Calendar, on phone, pad, laptop, shared with key folks.
I gave up my wall calendar a couple of years ago; the nest is empty.

I absolutely have to have my wall calendars. The one in my kitchen is a big one that we get in Staples. The one in my den is the smaller version with pictures of some kind. And I also do like MommaJ - all the “next year” events are listed in the blank squares (whether it be top or bottom) of December, until I get the new calendars, which reminds me …

We got an OfficeMax wall calendar until last year, when I saw an equivalent one at AC Moore for $1. Will be going there again. And I get a nice one for our bedroom at the 1/2 price calendar kiosk after Christmas – a quilt one or scenery or sometimes Thomas Kinkade. I also keep a small calendar in my purse. I write on the kitchen and purse calendars (try to keep them synched), but not at all on the bedroom calendar.

I still use a wall calendar hanging in the kitchen for a quick glance of what day it is, but keep appointments on my google calendar.

My new daughter in law gives her mother one every year with a picture for every month. Last year I got one two and fully expect a new one for Christmas this year. They were pictures of her and my son. I absolutely love it. I also hear they are pretty cheap to have made.

I don’t understand how people of my generation make do without a big month-at-a-time calendar hanging in their kitchen. Sure–it’s not nearly as busy as when all of the kids were still home full-time, but I wouldn’t know where else to put medical appts, hair appts, . . . . One of us always heads to Barnes & Noble in early January to pick one out (one DS has been doing it for me the last couple of years–this year we have Corgis to look at every month!). They’re a little bit larger than those free ones I never know what to do with. (Plus I love my location–ours hangs on the kitchen fireplace.)

I keep a large monthly picture calendar on the bulletin board in my kitchen. My son usually chooses a new one for me as a Christmas gift – solves a problem for him and for me, and I enjoy seeing the theme he decides upon for me. I write everything going on on it, including reminders of birthdays and when to get medical tests done. I also track my weight on it (in very small numbers, nobody even notices I do this.)
At the end of the year, I file the calendar away with the ones I have kept since my kids were born. They are filled with great memories. Plus they are helpful when I need to make an appointment with a doctor I have not seen in years and whose name I can’t recall, such as a dermatologist. I can look at my old calendar to track down the info.

I also keep a purse calendar with all appts. noted there as well. I would be lost without these systems, as my memory is challenged.

Search for art or cats or whatever you want so the selection isn’t overwhelming.

I started carrying a pocket 12-month calendar that I got in the dollar aisle at Target since I am responsible for my 89-year-old dad’s and 91-year-old stepmother’s appointments. They have a 2-month erasable wall calendar. We keep a set of pens with magnets on their refrigerator.

With everyone going so many different directions I gave up on wall calendars and moved to the ical on my mac/iphone. I have one for the family, me, and each of the kids. I can look at all at once or just one. When I make an appointment at the Dr.s office I have my calendar right there so I know when I can plan my follow up. I put the new appt in the calendar before I leave the office with two audible reminders. It is my lifeline. I ‘share’ the family calendar with DH which syncs with his. It got to the point where I had to commit to one or the other, electronic or paper, and I chose electronic.

I use a paper calendar too. It’s actually a full page daily planner. I keep it in my kitchen for ALL to see. I don’t have a wall large enough to hang one on. Lots of windows!

I use a large monthly picture calendar and keep much of the info like JEM above. I also save all–somewhat of our history book. When the kids were small, we started sending the Grandparents a photo calendar, which they love, since have always been about 2K miles away. Sort of a way for the Grands to see the kids grow up. This year I was able to get the 3 photo calendars made for under $20 total–my Good Buy of the day!

I put everything into google calendars and then I have a large one-month white board calendar that I have in the kitchen. I put each person in a different color marker. That way I can put stuff 6-months ahead in the phone calendar then pull it up to fill out the monthly white-board calendar. I find the visual calendar in the kitchen better for planning the week out! (and helps me not forget appointments most of the time).

We usually hit the mall around Jan. 4 and go to the calendar store, which is selling out at 50% off. If you wait too long, the choice is slim, but go too soon and the discounts aren’t there.

I don’t really use a wall calendar anymore but I do have a strange connection to them. I teach elementary school art and sometimes parents will donate old wall calendars to my classroom so that I can use the pictures. I save them in a box and occasionally go through them to cut the pictures out, remove the staples, etc. The part that always intrigues and moves me is seeing the notations on the days. It’s like seeing an archeological relic from someone’s life. For instance a calendar form 2002 with notes about Neil’s birthday, Jen’s doctor’s appointment, Grandma’s birthday, a reminder to pick Ben up at soccer practice etc. This from a family that is probably long gone from my school and who’s kids are grown. For some reason it just strikes me as so poignant and sweet. Like a time capsule.

Arizona Highways calendar, which is cheap and spiral bound, to easy to transport, if available only by mail or relatives in AZ. I’ve started saving them, year to year, as record of all we do, in absence of a journal. This is supplemented by the cheap pocket planner from Half Price books or Dollar store. I tell my sister to send as soon as available, as I can’t think about the year, or plan, without it.

But need to get on the google calendar bandwagon as well.

EPTR, i used to get the small free calendars from Hallmark or my bank and used them when I was pg with the Ds.I still have them. They are like a time capsule!
:)

I actually miss the wall calendars. I just don’t have the coordination and discipline to transpose things to two places. I can do one or the other. Also, if there’s a paper one someone (DH or kids) will write something down w/o telling me and it never makes it’s way to the electronic one. Just too much room for error with this family.

We have one magneted to our fridge. I have a weekly tear off calendar that is just for meals and the grocery list, and I’ll write things on there sometimes if I want BF to remember it, too. He doesn’t look at the monthly calendar, but I do.

I worked for the Day by Day Calendar Co. for a few months at Christmas time for my first job, and it was a long time before I could comfortably look at a calendar again… people are NUTS about their calendars.
