I was thinking of doing poli sci with a minor in business and then jd/mba in law school. However, i want to join a coding bootcamp and learn how to program. I feel like this will open up more doors and if law school doesn’t work out, I’ll have the base knowledge of cs that i can build upon. I think computer science/math knowledge will help me break in to tech companies (as a law student) more easily because i’ll have technical knowledge of what’s going on but who knows. Thoughts?
I mean…what kind of thoughts do you want? It’s good to learn how to code regardless of what your major is; yes, it may make you more appealing to tech companies in the future, particularly if you don’t go to law school.
Why do you want a JD/MBA?
because i want to go into corporate law, and then possibly try to break into investment banking
Why can’t you take some coding classes in college? Possibly even minor if you find you like it. (Why pay a boot camp when you’ll already be paying tuition.)
You don’t need a business degree for a transactional law practice. You don’t need a JD for investment banking. Also note that you don’t need any specific undergrad major for later applying to law or business schools - you can even major in CS if that is what you prefer. (No need for poli sci unless that is what you like.)
You could major and minor and just take coding classes on the side
