Wanting to write a book for money

I know that Amazon allows you to sell your own book online ($30/year+55% commission). Lets say I take the time to write a book and I pay someone to make copies of the book. Is it a dumb idea or could it be quite profitable?

I say it’s dumb.

If you’re only going to write for the prospect of profit, I am guessing the essence of your book is going to be weak and therefore the book is not going to be good. I am not saying you’re a bad writer or anything of the kind, but writing a book is like painting or writing a song- it just comes. You can’t be forced to do it for money.

Furthermore, is the $30 per year what they would give you? Even with the 55% commission added, that’s nothing. It’s nothing when you compare it to the amount of work you would put into writing your book.

Even then, you’d have to pay someone to make copies of the book. You’d probably end up making a loss and not a profit.

you can choose some other chance to make profit.

advertising would probably be a lot easier with a more established publisher.
