<p>The book “War As They Knew It: Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and America in a Time of Unrest” by Michael Rosenberg has become required reading for all students affiliated with the University of Michigan by me.</p>
<p>One of the greatest things you will get an appreciation for as a student at the University of Michigan is the great history behind UofM and Ann Arbor. This book is a perfect stepping stone to that history and I highly recommend it. You will learn about the greatest rivalry in all of sports, you will learn the idiosyncrasies of Bo and Woody, and you will learn about the student activism in Ann Arbor. Rosenberg does an incredible job of intertwining football and the war in Vietnam. You really need to read this book!</p>
