I am currently in the 11th grade. My 2 friends and I are in the same grade and we plan to go to college together. We live in Northeast Ohio. We are considering Ohio State, but we also wanted to consider colleges that are in areas that are maybe warmer but not too far. We wanna be able to come back often. Myself and one of my friends want to major in Biology and were actually going to college to be doctors. Me a OB/GYN and her a Dermatologist. My other friend is kinda undecided but is leaning toward Lawyer, Journalist, and artist (I know she’s the crazy one). Anyways if anyone can help me please do thanks.

tulane has everything you’re looking for except its not that close to ohio.

70 and sunny in new orleans right now. :)

Hey, a fellow Ohioan!

I got a similar situation, masquoodah. I want a really good, national-reputation without a behemoth size type of school, but I don’t want to stray more than 7 hours away from my home in Ohio. So, from my research, I would say:

Washington and Lee
UVA
Vanderbilt (might be a little far)
University of Dayton (Great Scholarships)
Miami University
Indiana U Bloomington
Wake Forest

Your best bet is to look straight down the I-77 and I-71 corridors.

Also, come chance me at Small-Town Junior looking for advice and chances for big-name schools thanks! (you don’t have to)

It was 3 degrees last Friday morning at Vanderbilt. Not sure what the OP’s definition of “warm” is.

Also, make sure the future dermatologist understands that it is one of the hardest residency programs to get into (post med school).

If you are talking about winter, “warm weather” and “near northeast Ohio” cannot normally be used in to refer to the same school. You may have to choose one over the other.

There are plenty of warm weather options on the West Coast. UC San Diego comes to mind. Some dorm rooms at UC Santa Barbara have ocean views.
