Warning to seniors/high school transcript heads up

This is a heads up for all seniors regardless of where you apply to/choose to attend…

Most of you will pour on the steam in the first semester or two of your senior year in high school as you start applying to colleges; once you start getting acceptance letters, you lose your motivation. It is VERY easy to succumb to senioritis.

In the spring, people start posting questions about whether they have to send in their final high school transcript or not, and invariably someone always says to not worry about it because the university doesn’t follow-up with asking you for a copy of your final transcript.

You know why they don’t? Because many high schools automatically send them for you!

How did I find this out? Quite by accident, actually. I happened to call the high school regarding a scheduling issue for my younger child (still in high school) and the answering machine in the guidance department announced that all final transcripts for seniors (that just graduated) were mailed out to their respective universities in July. I had no idea they did this automatically!

Fortunately, despite a very serious case of senioritis, my eldest child’s grades were miraculously maintained so it wasn’t an issue personally, but I have seen posts in the past that compelled me to post this heads-up for others.

So, don’t assume that because the university doesn’t ask, they won’t receive. Don’t stop running before you reach the finish line…
