<p>Use the heaviest and best bike lock you can find. My daughter’s bike was stolen yesterday in broad daylight. She was using a cable lock, not the best kind, but had been told that bike theft wasn’t a big problem at Wellesley and her bike wasn’t a high end bike or in the greatest shape.</p>
<p>When she reported the theft to the campus police, they told her that they had been dealing with a sudden rash of Trek bike thefts over the past two weeks. They think it’s just one guy stealing them. Apparently, Treks are like the Toyota Camrys of the bike world–they’re popular and easy to sell quickly.</p>
