what are the chances of getting into warren?

i was talking to a BU student that graduated from my hs last year… and she was telling me how she requested warren as her top choice but didnt get placed there.

i really want warren, and i filled out my housing forms at the beg of may, so… what are the chances of getting/not getting placed in warren?

I would think the chances are very good of getting put into Warren. I mean, it hold close to 2,000 people so tons of freshman get put there. When I was an entering freshman, I put Myles, the Hojo, and Warren as my top 3 in that order and got put into Warren. That and West are where most freshman are put. I find it odd that someone offering to go to Warren on first choice woudn’t get put there. Don’t worry about it thought. If that is your first choice, then you will most likely get it if you don’t hesitate to fill out your form. By the way, if you have any questions about Warren, I can tell you anything you’d like.

i visited BU and briefly looked at the dorms in warren. it’s coed on most floors right? but it’s like, separated by gender on each side i think?

and do you know much about the greek life there? as of rushing and whatnot? i hear girls only rush in the spring? and greek life’s not big at BU is it.

attending BU… is the cost going exceed much more than the 47,000?

and which dining plan is the best for freshmen?

Don’t worry about it. I’ll try and answer your questions as best I can. Yes most floor are coed with guys in one hallway and girls in the other. There are a few girls-only floors in Warren also. Greek life I can’t tell you much about. You’re correct when you say it isn’t that big at BU. It’s really not something I was too exposed to. What they have is some Greek Life fairs and you can visit and chat with reps from every frat. and sorority. This should give you a good idea as to what they are all about. About the cost, I don’t thikn it will be exceeding 47,000 this year (at least I hope not!) For the dining plan, I got the 14 per week plan. I usually don’t eat breakfast so 2 meals a day was perfect. Plus, you get a good amount of dining points to go to the GSU (Student Union) and pick up sandwiches or burritos and stuff like that if I really needed a third meal. It all depends on how often you like to eat and how many meals you actually want to use in the dining hall. I’d say start with the 14 and change if you need it. It is very easy to change it during the first few weeks. Hope some of this info helps!

Also a nice thing about the dining plan is that you can change it up to about 10 weeks or so into the semester. So even if the dining plan you pick isn’t right, you can change it!

What are the chances that freshman WON’T get put in Warren?
I suggested all the larger-style dorms without communal bathrooms (575 being my #1, 1019, myles etc.)
Am I pretty much going to get put in Warren or West, or is it common for freshman to be put elsewhere?

Also, do you get higher priority with housing/roommates if you request a roommate?

Chances are that you will end up in Warren or West. That is because Warren + West = around 3000 beds for mostly freshman. 575 might have a spot. Myles most likely won’t. I never see too many freshman in there. If you don’t end up in Warren or West, then you probably got pretty lucky

I’d actually say, if you put 575, 1019 and myles as your top three you’ll probably get one of those. Something like 75% of people get one of their top three. Most freshman request Warren and west in their top three, that’s why they get put there. If you didn’t have either in your top five at all AND you’ve turned in your housing on the early side, don’t worry about it.

I had neither Warren, West, or the Towers at all on my top 5, and I turned in my survey within a week after it became available.
I did have my first priority as my roommate request, though. Would that decrease my chances?

They save 10% of all types of housing for freshmen. Since most freshmen do not choce brownstones I’d say you have a medium chance of getting there. And you have med to high chance that if you don’t get that you’d get Shelton. And if not either, I’d say you’d definately get 575 (we call it the Hojo).

Sorry to outright disagree but I do. If a freshman WANTS a brownstone BU will try to put them in one because it’s better than putting someone in there against their will since their so quiet. Some freshmen WILL be in brownstones.

Freshmen will be in 10% of brownstones. I believe BU saves at least 10% of each type of housing for freshmen. More of Warren is open becasue no one else wants to lvie there, but conceivabley, if upperclassman all wanted to stay in Warren, 10% would be saved for Freshmen.
