Warwick PPE

If you were given a chance to study at Warwick University for the BAA/BSc in Philosophy, Politics and Economics program (PPE) and Bachelor of Economics and Finance program at The University of Hong Kong (Top one in Asia), Which one would you choose in terms of various considerations such as universities ranking, student prospect, further study in Oxford, LSE, Harvard etc?

Quoted from Warwick website: “Philosophy, Politics, and Economics may be studied separately but, when you study PPE at Warwick, you do not study them independently. All students have formal and informal opportunities to combine insights from the different disciplines. In contrast to the Oxford PPE, based on a “pillar” model with three independent elements, Warwick follows a “bridge” model that seeks to cross the gaps between them.” What about Warwick PPE program vs LSE economics program or Oxford PPE program?

Warwick is a top UK university, would place it below Oxbridge, LSE, Imperial and marginally UCL.

A lot depends on your aspirations. If you’re hoping to work in Asia, I would argue that Warwick is just as well regarded as The University of Hong Kong.

Your main decision should in my eyes be down to the course and location. How interested are you in Politics and Philosophy/ living in Coventry for three years? Further study at Oxford with a PPE degree from Warwick is not anything remarkable. Oxford and LSE in particular really are not that much stronger than Warwick, domestically speaking. Post grad at US Ivies will be far more dependent on the calibre of your work experience in your chosen industry, Warwick is a good enough to get your foot in the door. Warwick has excellent job prospects, gets tons of students into banks and law firms, not sure about uni of Hong Kong, but there are plenty of Asians at Warwick so I would not be surprised if they are looked on favourably in their homeland.

Oxford PPE is undoubtedly number 1, followed by LSE Government and Economics. After them two, Warwick and Durham PPE are next.
