<p>In January, a professor agreed to hire me as a lab assistant. I remember because I signed up for payroll back then. We took a lot of time determining what time to work and when to meet and stuff. There was a bunch of things going on with grad students leaving, so she didn’t tell me to do my first lit survey until sometime in February or March… I think.</p>
<p>Oh wait, I remember it was sometime in April, because it was a couple of weeks before school was ending. I finished my lit review right before finals week, and she received my lit review. I wanted to start work. I didn’t hear from her until I contacted her in the summer semester. She apparently completely forgot that I existed and didn’t know that I’ll be staying for the summer.</p>
<p>She told me I could start on 6/1, until she told me, that day, that she wanted me to do another lit survey, on a completely different research topic. I did and I’m starting at 9:00 sharp tomorrow! This is it! This is my destiny! D={</p>
<p>Seriously, I understand that a lot of professors are busy all the time. But it took me right around 6 months to start working on my first job in research. Does this ever happen in smaller private schools?</p>
