if so, is it just over the course load?

yes.

no, the course load is WAY lighter in college.

This question can generate many many answers since people come from different high schools.

For me, cornell is much much much harder than HS ever was mainly because I cruised through HS and paid dearly for it my 1st semester because I walked into cornell with a HS attitude (big mistake)

I was adequately prepared in high school so the jump was not that big for me.

the jump wasnt huge, but ALL college is harder than high school…thats just the way it is. but you have way more free time in college than you ever could have guessed.

college is def. more than high school…

in HS, we all ripped answers off our valedictorian, who was a hard working kid but didn’t get into any good colleges while the rest of us sat back and took advantage of his great knack for unnecessary knowledge and all got into top 10 schools :-D

10char @ ripdcurl…

for me the tough part about cornell was that i had no structure at all…where in high school you go from class to class and then you come home to do homework…

at cornell its like oversleep(no parents to force you up), class, back to sleep, class procrastinate, allnighter, oversleep…

depends on where you’re coming from. if youre one of those 100 AP kids its easier than having no APs. Also depends if you can manage your time, and how smart you are =P

i’d say i’m pretty avg. not too ap crazy, but still take a good amount of challenging classes. so i hope i’ll be okay.
thanx for all the advice : )

I went to a small public highschool in upstate ny. We only had three AP exams offered.

So, it was a bit of an adjustment, and I feel I did have to work harder to catch up with everyone in some of the intro classes. But once I was a semester into things and the courses covered material that wasn’t covered as much in AP classes, I had a much easier time.

I think for most everyone the college someone can get into will be harder than high school, unless an overachieving kid in HS goes to a ridiculously easy college.
