Wash/Dulles to Arlington?

Quick question for Beltway dwellers: Is it better for my mother, 85 years old and flying alone from FL, to take a taxi from Dulles to Arlington or should I arrange a car service to pick her up and take her to her hotel? (My family is arriving the same day, but later, and she doesn’t want to wait in the airport for us.)

Anyone know how much the cab would cost from Dulles to the Arlington/Roslyn neighborhood so I can compare the price to a car service?

It depends on where in Arlington. It could be as low as 15 miles. The most popular taxi co in the area it is called white top. If you are going to be off of Arlington Blvd, than it is an easy ride…66 to Rte 7. Now it depends how far down rte 7 you will be at. I would mapquest to get the exact mileage. and then call white top. Sorry I don’t know the base rate, but I am guessing a car service would be much more expensive

Arrange a car service…for her comfort. Everyone getting off a plane at Dulles (which I did on Sat and my d does all the time now) comes out at the same place in baggage claim. If you have a driver waiting, she can quickly and easily be transported from a very chaotic airport to her hotel without worry or fear.

Thanks for the advice. She will have airport assistance, but I think maybe the car service would be more reassuring to her. I’ll get some recommendations from the hotel.
