Wash U Waitlisted and SCARED: is it because of my essay?

So, I just found out today that I was wait listed at Wash U a school that I thought I had a good shot at and am now wondering why?

Here’s a link to my “my chances” thread if you are interested in my stats: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/801251-chance-anglo-saxon-hero-ivies-tier-1-schools.html</a> (Only update is that I’m now 16 in my class and I’ve been accepted to UT Business Honors)

I’d like an evaluation on my common app essay if anyone is interested. I know it is too late to change, but I’m really curious as to what others think of my essay as I haven’t had too many people criticize it. I want to know if it is my downfall…

PM me if you’d like to read it. It’s about my visit to my grandfather’s village in China, and how that changed my life. (I tried to show colleges the duality of my multiracial ethnicity…)

Everybody tries to figure out why Wash U waitlists them…essay? not enough demonstrated interest? SAT’s?..don’t bother; there is no rhyme or reason for Wash U admits/waitlists and are NO indication (and never have been) of acceptances to other schools…if you have the time and patience, look over last year/2008/2007 threads and see where the people waitlisted to Wash U ended up…

Don’t worry about being waitlisted by Wash U; they have a history of putting their top candidates on the waitlist because they think they will be accepted and matriculate elsewhere. This keeps their acceptance rate low…

Thanks for the comments. But @ Mminsa: Could you take a look at my profile and give your opinion if you think that’s why they waitlisted me? I’m worried that I’m simply inadequate for these top tier schools… (Basically, I think I’m the perfect wait lits candidate.)
