Washer/Dryer

Darn. I was wishing for my own wash lad.

No idea - I think the two most popular European brands are Miele and Electrolux. I believe both make washers with drying function for the US market. They are definitely designed for smaller loads! No queen sized comforters would fit into those I’ve seen!

Love, love, love my Speed Queen dryer. Perfect appliance! The new washer is OK, but I’m always irritated by the lack of light inside the drum especially when unloading dark washes. Still miss my mega sized Miele that’s no longer made for the US market.

haven’t read whole thread, but…if considering stacking a front load washer with a front load dryer (not a one piece unit)–this was my experience:

  • Had problem with 4 year old washer (lower unit). Scheduling repair took 10 days out…because they need to schedule TWO repair techs because of the stacking. (you pay for two tech services)
  • Washer needed to be replaced. I thought, ok fine, but dryer is still working. Well, techs would put it back on top, but all warranties would void because old dryer not made to sit on top of new unit. Note that machines were the SAME brand…just different year…and every year, designs change…so they build in some obsolescence. argh. One option was to find a contractor to build a platform for dryer to sit on. ugh. So ended up with two new machines and found someone to take old (but perfect condition) dryer off our hands.

fwiw…

Yes. So yes, if one breaks then we’re in trouble. But it was a great design for our laundry room, and they are so much better than our old Samsung or Bosch units.

That’s what we have. I really love them.
