Nah
S24 was a finalist too and i just tried to register for Admitted Student Day but couldn’t. So i guess we all have to wait until tomorrow night.
Wait are RD decisions out tomorrow?
Their site said by April 1st, so could be anytime between tomorrow and April 1st. No one is 100% sure, except admission.
We are all guessing because tomorrow is the decision date for Johnson Scholars, so those that are receiving the scholarship might also means they are getting in.
For those who are not finalists for Johnson, its unknown
Ohhhh I see
Good luck to y’all!
Wish everyone luck!
S24 is on a trip oversea, so I will be checking the decision. Will see if it will be a good news, or a nightmare, for him tomorrow night.
Historically RD has been released one week after the Johnson results. So my guess is RD will be 3/22 since Johnsons are 3/15. But I have seen no confirmation of that.
My Johnson interviewer confirmed that. You’re correct about the date
That is correct. My D24 was accepted ED.
Best of luck with the Johnson results tonight…and with any other decisions you are waiting on. I hope you all have multiple fantastic choices and can select the school that fits you best.
Of course, I’m biased towards W&L.
Gonna need a few bottles to calm down. I think I am more nervous than S24!
Same!!! Good luck to all!
I remember that feeling in 2021!
Decisions are out!
Was not selected as a Johnson nor alternate-offered W&L scholar worth 61k per year, so thats nice. Congrats to everyone and their kids who got the Johnson!!
Wow, that is a fantastic financial offer, congratulations!
Little known fact and not discussed by W&L. If you are an athlete and coaches tell you to apply ED, don’t expect to even be considered for a Johnson. Johnson is not for athletes and/or ED. School has around 30% of the student body playing sports. Therefore, there should be around 25-30% Johnson scholars. Nope.
If you are family that needs money to attend W&L, do not apply ED even though coaches tell you too. Despite what W&L states, what your family needs to send you to W&L may not be what W&L believes you can pay especially if you have other kids. Not the same, but W&L then can state that it meets all needs. Not even close, if you family can’t afford, then you don’t go. Not a captured stat. Long story and I am a W&L grad.
I’ve heard several conflicting stories about whether ED applicants are considered for the Johnson. The official line is that they are, but I wonder if they are seriously considered as no one knew of any ED Johnson’s. This was discussed on CC a couple months ago.
I do think your numbers are off about the % of Johnson scholars. Regardless of if they are considering both ED and RD applicants, the target is to end up with 10% of the class as Johnson’s. I’d assume that target is based on the endowment and other institutional goals.
I don’t have personal experience with the need-based aid awards. I have been told by multiple families it was very generous. This year a friend’s son was offered more aid by W&L than he was by Harvard. That’s a sample size of one, but I found it interesting when I was told that story. I’m sure there are many scenarios that would yield different results. That is unfortunately a common story at many schools…not agreeing with the financial aid calculations.
I hope you still make it to campus occasionally. We love to visit.
W&L will give any applicant who is considering ED a full financial pre read if requested.
