Washington Post on US News Rankings/Princeton

–The author graduated from Princeton in 2000.

Do you suppose the author is our own “PtonGrad2000”?

He seems to have a similar writing style.

Byerly: I was thinking the same thing! (PtonGrad2000 and Ian Shapira both graduated in 2000 as well.)

Columbia2007: Ian Shapira is being ridiculous. Anyone would be lucky to get into any of the 8 schools (except maybe Cornell–that might be more like a curse!). Shapira should also be aware of the fact that Columbia College’s accept rate is lower than Princeton’s!

Sorry to disappoint, but ‘tis not I!

Actually, while this ‘tongue-in-cheek’ article is meant to be funny I’m sorry to see it, as it seems to reinforce ugly stereotypes about these schools rather than helping to break them down. I’m glad, however, that it downplays how seriously alumni take these rankings. As I’ve said before, while it’s fun for us to be on top this year, I for one, won’t be losing any sleep if we drop next year.

Hey Columbia2007, we may be looking up at you in the 2008 rankings!

…and Byerly, you called me “our own.” Thanks and I’m tickled. Is this a sign of social acceptance on CC?

We better not see too many more of those 1,000-word exerpts from copyrighted sources and your status as one of “us” may be revoked, Pton/Harvard Law School!

I can’t believe people get paid to write this crap.

I can’t believe people care enough about those rankings to write articles about them.

What rankings?

LMAO. That guy’s perfect for a CC ■■■■■.

That’s one of the lines that made me suspect the author - an admitted member of the Princeton class of 2000, might really be our own “Pton2000.” You know - “light hearted and humorous.”

He seems to have replaced Alumother as the “older” booster.

That’s what you need Zepher - a mature counterpart! I don’t think Sammy Lee cuts it.

Stanford could benefit from the presence of an able senior poster along the lines of the formidable “sakky” who dispenses wisdom on the Cal Berkeley forum.

I’d like to think I take care of it all, Byerly!

You have yet to bring in a protege. And I’m sure crimsonbulldog isn’t happy with his current-student counterpart.

“Older” and “mature,” I like that!

What I don’t like is this article. As I said before, I think the author’s attempt at humor is misguided. Though he clearly intends to poke fun at these attitudes, he will, I believe, be taken seriously by too many.

I’m afraid you may be right Pton2000/Harvard Law School:

The “light hearted and humorous” approach is hard to handle effectively.

Agreed, recalling the “chunky peanut butter” episode.

he did an awful job at it… he totally insulted the DC area schools… he def. didn’t handle this well.

Grrr, me angry. Me want to express anger but can’t because me Ivy Leeg skhool not HYP. Maybe after me evolv opposable thumbs can bettr expres anger over snotty self-obsessed writer. Oh well, for now me just smash writer with boom-stick.
