Washington State Supreme Court Prohibits Same Gender Marriage

<p>I just read the official opinion of the court. It is interesting to note that the judges took pains to say (or implicitly say) that while they didn’t agree with the state’s DOMA, it’s up to the legislature, or the people by initiative, to change to law.</p>

<p>From my reading of the full opinion, it seems like the plaintiff’s lawyers based their challenge on the wrong set of arguments. Different arguments may have produced a different ruling.</p>

<p>It looks like Massachusetts is still out there by itself.</p>
