It was crazy. Out of the 102 kids in my prep-school class, about 45 applied, and 35-ish got in. However, in typical WashU fashion, the most qualified students were waitlisted. We also had a few get off the waitlist…some that were seriously not impressive, but whatever…WashU does what it does, can’t pretend it doesn’t.

Brilliant class, isn’t it? I know, I know, two thirds of Wash U 2011 is from your school, and they accepted only your classmates from the wait list.;)

What school do you go to?

Trapper sounds a little bitter, haha.

He goes to Dream Academy in Heavenly Sent.

Are you the same poster that didn’t explain the following statement on a previous thread; “i can’t wait til i get my recruitment letter saying i got a full rdie and i can rub it all in ur face.” Still would like to know how you pull that off at a D3 school that does not give athletic scholarships. Makes me wonder a bit about your credebility.

Some kids are here to have fun; they don’t realize that CC parents and students are serious about giving and getting help in the forum.
Don’t waste your time ST2 on them, this guy is a HS junior, he doesn’t even know where his HS senior class applied.

yeah. i’m the same guy. any of you have naviance? our school posts what colleges the classes before us applied to, their sat scores on scattergrams, and all that stuff. i know where every single kid in 2007 is going.

i haven’t gotten a recruitment letter and i won’t. i have been emailing the coach thornton (the track coach) and talking with him on the phone. i’m visiting june 19th for the student-athlete day. if you need anymore credibility i can show you our emails and give you his cell phone number.

washu doesn’t give athletic scholarships, but they give full tuition sometimes, especially to URMs.

thank you.

There are only two ways that I know of to get full tuition at WashU. Either a merit scholarship, that is very competetive and requires a separate application or financial need. If you know of another option, please share that option.

those are the options i’m aware of too, although plenty of URM friends have gotten substantial amounts without applying for any money. full tuition, though, requires an application, as far as i know.

As far as I know, those “substantial amounts” are all need based. You don’t have to be a URM to qualify for need based money. WashU can be quite generous in assisting with attendance costs.

i absolutely agree that washu is generous, but i do know people in artsci who have gotten merit aid without applying for it, and they are all URMs. this is in addition to their need-based package, which was figured after they were awarded these unpublicized scholarships

Although programs like the Elliot have a merit factor, they are still tied in to financial need. If you check with financial services, I believe they will confirm that these “unpublicized scholarships” are in fact need based.

ST2 is right; fin aid comes with many merit scholarships so you don’t have to borrow a lot of money.

iamjacquesbarjon,

What are your P.R.s? Does Coach seem interested? Curious about what kinds of times he is looking for.

i run the 100 and the 300h. i’ve run 11.11 and 39.80 respectively. i’ve also run sub52 splits in the 4x4. he hasn’t said anything definite so i’m not even sure if that what he’s looking for. but based on times that i’ve seen other washu kids run, i think i’m in good sitting.
what about u?
