Over the past few weeks, I have received lists filled with stuff that is absolutely necessary for an “excellent college dorm experience.” However, if I buy all of the garbage that is listed on these so-called lists, my bed will be forced out into the hallway. What are the absolute essentials for a male freshman WashU student. Do many students bring things such as TVs, mini fridges, microwaves, vacuums cleaners, etc?

Most kids have refrigs and microwaves, but often rent them from UTrucking. As for the TVs - some bring them and some don’t. Vacuum cleaners - are you in the new dorms with carpeting or the old ones where a broom will do…That being said, make sure you check with your roommate and decide who’s bringing what so you don’t duplicate things.

Renting a fridge from utrucking is a rip-off. They cost as much to buy new from Home Depot (yes, Home Depot carries dorm fridges) than to rent from UTrucking.

I agree with oncampus, renting any appliance from uTrucking is a rip-off, my children bought the fridge (two) from Best Buy and the other stuff from different places and they rented a storage for the summer close to campus for less than a fourth of UTrucking price. If you are an American Airlines frequent flyer and you buy online form Target, BestBuy and another places, you also get miles for your free trips.
