WashU or University of Edinburgh?

I’m have a dilemma…

I was accepted into WashU with the summer scholars biomedical research scholarship, and I think it’d be a great opportunity. If I attend, I will most likely study either BioMEng, or PNP.

I recently applied to University of Edinburgh (in Scotland). And I think it’d be an absolutely wonderful experience to go there. I would study Cognitive Science in Edinburgh.

But I really can’t decide between these two. I think Edinburgh would be the experience of the lifetime, but obviously, WashU is the more “conventional” choice. Any advice? Especially from parents would be appreciated…

First off, I was in SSBBR last year and it was an absolutely amazing experience!!! I mos def recommend it. Second, I know two or three ppl now who are doing PNP at WashU and have gone abroad and studied at University of Edinburgh. Idk if thats any help, but hope it is!

Go with WashU, you could always do a semester abroad at Edinburgh.

Thanks manjaap. Yeah, I would have gone to WashU in a heartbeat had I not gotten into Edinburgh.

Ah, by the way…Edinburgh would probably cost about £15K including accommodation, tuition, travel if I went to study there.

I’m going to assume WashU will also be about $30K…unfortunately, I’m not expecting so much financial aid from them…

It is easy to understand why you are having difficulty in making a choice between WashUStL & the University of Edinburgh. If you plan to go to medical school or to pursue a higher degree in medical research, then go to Washington University in St. Louis as it is one of the best in the world. If you want to learn to talk funny and wear a skirt, then consider your other option. (Hope that helps. Kinda like a swift kick in the pants, or, if you prefer, in the kilt.) You may want to compromise and go for the four year bagpipe scholarship at Carnegie Mellon Univ.

hahaha right on icy
