both duke and washu have given me full rides. have not received georgetowns aid package, but assume it should be satisfactory.

how are these schools in terms of atmosphere/academics/competitiveness/fun?

at the moment im considering pre-law or economics.

i’d appreciate any inputs.

I live near DC and I love the city, but based on visits I would put Wash U over Georgetown, unless you want to do International Relations-type stuff.

I love WashU and it’s got a decent economics program. It’s more friendly and open-minded than Duke. There’s more to do around WashU than there is around Duke. However, I also love Duke Basketball. They’re giving you a full ride, go there for the basketball games alone. Duke was my first choice when I applied but didn’t get in b/c my stats couldn’t really compare with the others from my competitive public school. With WashU and Duke full rides, GTown probably shouldn’t factor in except for that they have a really good undergrad econ. program. But you shouldn’t really choose an undergrad. inst. based on major, because there’s a good chance that you’ll change your major. I’m from the DC area and will vouch for the town as one of the greatest places in the country–don’t let New Yorkers tell you otherwise. Anyway, between WU and Duke, I would have gone to Duke. But I have a feeling that, having gone to WU, I’m happier here than I would have been at Duke. Crazy, huh?

How exactly did you get a full ride to Wash U? Are you sure you don’t mean full tuition scholarship or something like that? For some reason I thought full ride meant they paid for EVERYTHING, but I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.

what i meant by full ride was full tuition covered. i dont think anyne except recruited athlete get anything more than that.
