undecided major

JHU, Baltimore is a lot less dangerous compared to St. Louis which was voted the most dangerous city in America.

JHU is better at more things than WashU.
Hopkins has top 10 programs in just about any field, and is particularly well-known for Writing Seminars, International Relations, Public Health, Neuro-Science, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Pre-Med, Any Biology-related field, Classics, and Art History.

Overall, it is more well-rounded than WashU.

The “danger of St. Louis” is really not a valid argument against Wash U. The study only took into account the city limits; most of Wash U is in fact in St. Louis County. The area directly around the school is quite nice.

I didn’t even know what WUSTL was when I initially applied to colleges… I know about all the major top name schools like JHU, Duke, UChicago, Cornell, Ivies and all that… but when my guidance counselor recommended WashU to me, I was like… “Are you really going to recommend a community college to me? I’ve never even heard of this school before…”

It’s going to be tough trying to explain where you are going to college to everyone. WUSTL is a mouthful…

*I didn’t apply to WashU because I told my guidance counselor that I *forgot *to apply… I really didn’t want to apply to a school that has little to zero name recognition outside the Midwest… and name recognition is pretty big from where I am from [Cambridge, MA], Harvard, MIT, Tufts, etc…
That’s just me.
