WashU Waitlist Class of 2024

Got into CAS officially from the waitlist today, but most likely not accepting (I’m full pay FYI if that helps anyone and sent one LOCI), good luck!

Got accepted into WashU off the waitlist last Friday!!! Was my dream school, but probably won’t attend due to cost.

Son got admission offer yesterday. Bittersweet moment as both parents are WashU alumni but cannot justify cost of attendance relative to the other admission offers (UIUC, UBC, UofT, McGill, Stony Brook). Waitlisted at UC-Berkeley and Michigan. Probably going with UBC

Got offered admission yesterday! Probably won’t attend because of cost. Also got into Minnesota honors, Michigan, UNC honors, Iowa honors, Kansas honors, & Carleton. Waitlisted at Vandy

I’ve seen several people say they were accepted but won’t be attending due to cost - but only remember one saying they got offered admission off the waitlist AND received financial aid. I’ve been assuming that WashU (and other schools) will make offers to ‘full pay’ (or close to it) students first, due to the current economic situation. But I’m curious if I’m wrong? Has anyone receiving significant financial aid (say ~50% of cost) gotten offers or been contacted off of the waitlist?

Since WashU is not need-blind, you’re probably correct.

My guidance counselor sent me an email that my Washu Admissions officer reached out about me. Could this be a sign that they will accept me? Trying not to get my hopes up yet but was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or what it could possibly mean.

My kid declined her spot today. Too expensive with zero financial aid offered. Hopefully that helps someone here.

I don’t know if that has happened in past years for students that got off the WashU waitlist, but looking at most of the posts, and my own experience, they are giving SIGNIFICANTLY less amount of aid this year as compared to other schools that are as competitive as they are or even more competitive. LOL, hate to say it, but truly the aid they give is equivalent to receiving no aid.

I was accepted yesterday. The COA was way over my EFC after financial aid . Will be declining my spot.

I just took my name off of the waitlist today. I will be attending Rice next year, which offered great financial aid. Best of luck to all of you waiting.

Is WashU just not sending out any more offers??

I got off the waitlist today!!! So excited

Congrats! are you committing?

Are they still sending out acceptances?

Emailed Admissions:

“We are still evaluating our class for this fall and are not sure if we will be offering more spaces to students on the waitlist at this time. Once we decide to complete our use of the waitlist, we will notify all the remaining students. But we don’t know when that will be yet.”

Not a great sign, but there’s Hope yet. Crossing my fingers and low-key dying. ?

has anyone got off the waitlist as an international applicant?

Did anyone receive any updates about the waitlist from Wash U since 5/18 ?

Wow, it’s kinda insane that it’s now June and we haven’t heard of anyone getting off in about a month, yet we also haven’t been given final decisions.

I believe many universities are keeping their options open because of the Cvd19 situation - it is not clear how many students may want to take a gap-year or if some previously accepted students cancel because they now prefer to go to universities closer to home. WashU is intending to have in-person classes in the Fall (but they will delay the start). WashU have excellent facilities - including a renounced Medical School/Center - and the university administration has been researching and modeling how to keep the community safe. Like most universities they have not yet determined what that will entail.
