With a 3.0 cumulative gpa around what SAT score would I need to be accepted into the University of Maryland For Spring or Fall?

If it’s a 3.0 WEIGHTED , then no SAT score can make up for that
If it’s a 3.0 UNWEIGHTED, then you should aim for 2000+, realistically

It’s gonna be pretty tough to overcome a 3.0 Unweighted too…You are going to want at least a 1400/1600

You are in-state, correct? If you were OOS, UMD would be a reach school with your GPA.
In-state, Terps93 is correct. If the lower grades were freshman year, that could help a lot (or if you have a specific reason why you had a bad year/semester that your counselor could elaborate on in a letter of recommendation.) If your grades have been trending down, then you’re probably better off to start at a community college, get awesome grades there for a year, and UMD will be a great option…They seem to focus on post-high school grades for transfer students.

Let me be direct: I think that you have a very tough road ahead. GC at my son’s MD HS said (for our school) it took an UW GPA of 3.6 - 3.7 for a fall 2011 admit! For example, I know of two applicants with SATs in the mid-2100s. Both with lots of APs. One 2.9UW, 3.5W; other 3.4UW, 3.9W. One not accepted; other spring admit. I’m a UMCP alum, and I don’t agree with what I perceive to be a push towards greater and greater selectivity. I feel that the school should attempt to improve its ratings by continuing to improve its programs, not by becoming more and more selective. If that means fewer OOS with super high stats, so be it. That said, nobody on the Board of Regents has called asking for my opinion, so I predict that the trend towards greater selectivity will continue. All the best to you throughout the admissions process.

I’m 3.38 UW and 4.1 W. That’s pretty low compared to most people who got in College Park, much less to the Scholars Program. But I got into both.

My SAT score was 2270: 740 M, 740 Reading, 790 writing. That certainty helped, but I think there was also the extracurriculars and essays. They look at everything, so put sine in that everything and that might help.

I think it is vital to apply early–in the fall. My d was admitted, OOS, to Scholars, with stats a little lower than yours, Jinling. We are grateful and surprised.

I have a son who is a h.s. Freshman and I know when his senior year starts, those apps will ALL be going out early for the best chances.
