Watching SNL 40th reunion?

Here’s a list of all appearances on SNL if you care to wade though it. According to that Jack Nicholson only had a cameo.

Caught a brief photo of my man Bob Uecker during the show.

Here you can see the hosts and musical guests by year.

I really enjoyed it. But where were the Coneheads? And why was Miley Cyrus on stage in the beginning and why did she perform a Paul Simon song? (I’m biased - I can’t stand her). I loved Wayne’s World and Celebrity Jeopardy. All in all, it was a lot of fun. When Paul McCartney spoke, it sounded like he had laryngitis so maybe that’s the reason he was off? He’s sounded better in the recent past. I really enjoyed Tina, Amy and Jane on the news. Oh - and Justin Timberlake could sing the phone book and I think would be amazing.

I cut out when Miley Cyrus sang…
Anyone remember when Buck Henry used to be on ? He was an oddly funny guy. I had a curfew when I was in high school but we would sometimes hang out and watch SNL in a group. My friend and I were laughing about the embarrassing commercials ( for feminine products ) and how awkward it was when we were watching with boys we liked

We watched the first 15-20 minutes and then turned it off. Quite a disappointing show, IMHO

I was so HYPED for this show, and it was a big DUD! The best part of the show was the intro with Timberlake and Fallon. I will give it up to the female news anchors, the Jeopardy skit, Melissa McCarty and Maya Rudolph as Beyonce. The Californians took up WAY too much time! Not to mention it wasnt funny

I watched about half of it. Sir Paul was not in good voice last night and that was maybe not the best of song choices but he did a concert at Irving Plaza small venue performing space on Sat night when he realized that he’d be in NY for weekend for this event. I agree with why Miley Cyrus?? Is she supposed to represent today’s generation of performers? If so, bad choice in my opinion. I enjoyed seeing the older and original cast members because I am old enough to remember season one, but thought they could have done more with some of the older and funnier skits and funny faux commercials.

Oh god. Those faux commercials. Some of the early ones were so real…it took a minute or longer to figure out they were part of the show. Too bad they didn’t show those!

I loved Celebrity Jeopardy, Weekend Update, and Wayne’s World. Hated The Californians and thought Seinfeld was awkward. Can’t believe I have to admit Miley Cyrus was great. Hated that they fed Kanye’s ego.

Was Julia Louis Dreyfus there?

I thought Miley Cyrus was fantastic, as well. And I usually can’t stand her. Her version of 50 Ways to Leave a Lover was brilliant IMO.

I preferred the all day show on VH1. Plenty of time to go thru year by year, with comments from those in the know.

I also liked Miley Cyrus. You could hear her Dad’s voice roots in her singing. I loved her rendition…but I do think it would have been fun if Paul Simon had joined Her at the end. It would have been great vocal contrasts.

If the Californians is an example of current SNL, it’s pathetic. And really…one episode of that would have been quite enough. Then they would have had time for the Cone Heads.

I like Miley Cyrus, too. Thought she was funny in the opening as well. It is funny about the different takes on all of this. I enjoyed Paul McCartney, so did some reviewers. For me, the less than perfect voice, the poignancy of maybe I’m amazed resonated with me.

Just watched the first hour tonight - I loved it!!! Fast forwarded through a couple things - including Paul - but was LOL’ing at Jeopardy and a couple other skits!

I thought Miley had a very good voice. Better than I expected as I guess I just thought she must have been packaged.

The fact that Miley sang without backup singers was impressive. I just read an article in the NY Times that pretty much summed up the SNL show. Just got to see the opening skit and the jeopardy skit- both very good.

Slight digression- I m watching the tribute to Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett just did a fabuous job!

I enjoyed the Stevie Wonder tribute as well. Tony Bennett is amazing!
