Pre-pandemic I used to travel extensively for work, to different locations each time. So I relied a lot on navigation apps.
I think all of them (at some point or another) have issues. Where I used to live, a community theater had to prominently post on their website/tickets to NOT USE Google maps to get there, as they had a glitch in the directions and you wouldn’t end up in the correct place. However, Waze worked.
I have usually found Waze to be reliable, however, I haven’t been going anywhere lately!
I have been sent (using Google maps) in endless loops, and once found myself driving in a peach orchard. I did get there eventually . . . maybe it was a shortcut?
A favorite memory was attempting to find my hotel and being directed to a) a trailer park; and b) a funeral home (different cities).
Yes–I used Waze yesterday for the first time in a long time and it wouldn’t go to the address I entered. I waited for several minutes and nothing happened and then all of a sudden it worked. Weird.
I used it on Sunday. When I got to my destination, it told me it was on the right, it was very clearly on the right. I didn’t seem to have this issue before.
Haven’t driven much during these “stay at home” times but I took the car out for an trip today and the routing was terrible. Upon investigation I discovered that the latest update has changed my navigation settings to “Avoid freeways”. Obviously that’s not a setting I’d ever select. After changing that setting back to normal the routing was decent again. Very odd.
Last week I had to drive in a new, unfamiliar city. I was using Google Maps and it was horrible - I was taking the interstate, and every time there was a side street parallel to the interstate, it assumed I was on that side street, and switched to navigating me back to the interstate. On the way back I used Waze and it did not have that issue.
