<p>hi everyone :slight_smile: hope you all had a great thanksgiving!! </p>

<p>i just realized that our homeschool forum is second to last in number of threads. (online degree has like ten, and we have 62 now, including this one)</p>

<p>it really is kind of sad, considering that as far as i know, the number of homeschoolers TOTALLY beats the number of online degreers, at least more than by 52 people. </p>

<p>let’s look alive!! :D</p>

<p>When do you think is the best time to do homeschooling?</p>

<p>a) kindergarten b) elementary school c) junior high d) highschool</p>

<p>i guess not many are gonna pick d, at least. well, post on! it’s time we move on from second to last :p</p>

<p>maybe cuz homeschoolers are too cool for REAL school and are too scared to meet the REAL world outside the box (or house). ur not going to be homeschooled all ur life so why not get interactions with others/ public now?</p>

<p>^ as far as i know, no homeschooler is ‘too cool for real school’ or ‘too scared to meet the real world’. as you may know, everyone’s unique. you are unique in the way you disagree with me, for an example. so isn’t it kind of obvious that the effective ways of learning differ from one to another? i have been homeschooled for only half a year, and i don’t think it’s a way of locking oneself in from the so called ‘outside world’. </p>

<p>i agree with the fact that none of us are going to be homeschooled all our lives. but for many of us, that’s the reason why we homeschool. trying new things is a way of learning. while we learn how to interact with others at schools or at work, we can learn other things from homeschooling. like appreciating what you have. respecting the opportunities given to you. knowing more about yourself as you spend more time with your self. </p>

<p>all of this might sound like bull s**** to you, and i understand, since that was me just half a year ago. but unless you have been homeschooled, hated it, and stopped it, i don’t think you should be discriminiating against homeschoolers.</p>

<p>You’re darned right, I’m too cool for public school. Talk about locking yourself in a box. I learn what I want, when I want. Not what a teacher wants me to know, when the teacher deems me ready to handle the information. I make friends with whoever I want, 'cause I don’t care what other kids think about me. I work during the day, 'cause making money is a better use of my time than sitting in a classroom bored. I’m going to college next year, 'cause I can.</p>

<p>I think that maybe in SIXTH GRADE you should start homeschooling. First through 5th grade you don’t really do that much important schoolwork and you don’t want to force it on to your child. After 6th grade school becomes important. </p>

<p>Also sometimes I think going to public school is better than homeschooling. I think homeschooling is for people whose parents don’t want them to go or for socially-lacking people. Usually public schools are up to par with the nation. They have many AP classes and if those aren’t hard enough for you try community college classes.</p>

<p>I feel so socially deprived, I think I’ll go curl up in a box now, cancel all social activities for the next few months and eat a lollypop. <em>rolls eyes</em> </p>

<p>Look, the last thing this board needs is a ■■■■■. If you want to debate it, read the posts that already had alot of time and energy poured into them in the “homeschool is such a joke” thread, then come back. The last thing I am is socially deprived. </p>

<p>True I’m at college all day now for senior year, but even through all the other grades I’ve had just as many public schooled friends as homeschooled. And, over half of them were not even the same race as me. So do NOT call me racist, I’ve spent way to much time trying to stop that kind of ignorance. Who cares what accent or skin color there is? It doesn’t really matter

<p>The last thing parents around here do is lock their kids in boxes. There are a thousand EC’s and other fun stuff to do, and lots of kids at those places. And yes, gasp, some of them are even full of, PUBLIC SCHOOLED kids. They don’t have a problem with me, I don’t have a problem with them, what is your problem?</p>

<p>Want<em>a</em>scholarship - hey, depends on the kid and the schools around. In NY, the best time was birth, or the school board was down your necks for your entire life of homeschooling. Here, i would say middle school on works well. THere are some very nice elementry schools around here.</p>
