I have about 6 of the same yoga top in about 4 colors. It fits so well I wear them almost every day. I wish I’d bought 20 of them because they don’t make them any more. The simple uniform wardrobe appeals to me and I’m starting to feel resentful of having to dress up for anything. Would it be bad to wear yoga clothes to a wedding?
My kids have mastered the dryer “re-fresh” - throw your not dirty, but just needs freshening up item in the dryer for the short 15 minute cycle with a Bounce sheet. Good as new!
Uh, what’s an outfit?
I don’t have outfits. I have articles of clothing. And while I try not to repeat conspicuous ones during the same workweek, I will certainly wear the same neutral colored pants or shirt if they’re still clean enough. Or I’ll wear their clean twins – I tend to buy duplicates of staples like black pants and white shirts.
I literally cannot remember whether I’ve worn the black pants I’m wearing right now to the office earlier this week. And I don’t care whether I did. But I won’t repeat the distinctive black-and-white jacket I’m wearing today or the bright blue scarf I wore yesterday until next week.
@wellspring Ha! I have found a soulmate! I so agree that there is no such thing as a comfortable bra. The notion that an item consisting of binding elastic (not to mention wires, clasps and hooks) can be wrapped around a portion of the body that is intended to expand and contract can be comfortable is an oxymoron. Sorry…that’s my real life experience. I make do with shelf bra camis, sports bras and the for a really big night out on the town…the very loose fitting traditional ‘bra’. It’s gotten to be more challenging as I get older, but I’m making do.
I always, always wash something new before wearing for the first time in order to remove any of the finishes which could cause irritation. (Anyone remember the Dr. House episode with the kid who became ill from contact with the fabric conditioners in a new pair jeans?)
I’m also in the 'wash it if it smells, is obviously dirty or has been in a truly icky environment.
I wear the same jeans or pants more than once before washing. Underwear and shirts I wear just once. I’m sure I’ve worn the same outfit more than once in a week. My criteria in the morning is that it is clean and it fits. Someone could wear the same thing every day and I doubt I’d notice (assuming they look and smell clean).

I don’t watch House, but I completely agree that this is a plausible scenario. With cotton especially, which could be treated for shipping to prevent mold growth, etc.

I don’t like wearing a bra - any type of bra, including a sports one. If it wasn’t inappropriate-looking, I would go without all the time - when I can get away with it, I do!
I found a stretchy tank type of undershirt at H&M. It has a slight compression effect. It’s my favorite item because it stops enough wiggle and jiggle to make it appropriate under most tops. These things go on sale…you can get 4 for $10!
IMO…not wearing a bra has given the coopers ligaments an opportunity to develop and do what they are supposed to do, thus negating the need for a bra.
Thanks for the support (!). What’s that saying, the definition of insanity (or is it stupidity?) is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. For fifty years I’ve tried on bras, been fitted for bras, spent huge amounts of money on bras and I have never found a comfortable bra or one that I can stand to wear for more than four hours. I just had to let it go. I’m not going to expend any more effort on a fruitless quest.
I like wearing roughly the same thing every day. Khakis and a polo shirt of a basic color. Momx doesn’t like it and buys me new stuff that I hang in the closet. If we’re going somewhere or there’s some special occasion I’ll get more dressed up in something variable, but for my own everyday wear I just don’t care about picking out things or spending time deciding.
Steve Jobs did this. He found a black turtleneck that he liked and ordered dozens of them. I’m kind of in that mode, although not as disciplined.
