Just Checked ACT online my updated writing score is a 12!!! …I wonder if this matters

bumpity bumps anything?

Dude absolutely no one wants to read all that crap.

That’s why it’s OPTIONAL…
I put the general info at the top.

My main question was about the Web Design Hook.

I figured since it is a chances thread I should post some stats.
I just didn’t want people asking me about my ec’s so I added all that info.
My bad if it was too much. I don’t consider it crap just info that might help you know me better.

Again, I’m mainly asking bout the site while providing “some” background info

web design is not rare these days, but you certianly took it to the next level. be sure to give that url in your apps. i think adcoms will be impressed. Your passion definitely shows through, and yet you are well-rounded. i think you’ve got a great chance at all.

how did you get such a good ACT score and such a crap SAT score? just wondering. it’s not going to hurt you any.

pm me your essays?

good luck

Web design/programming are not that rare but still pretty interesting since it takes a lot of time to become good at. (I do computer programming and a little bit of web design myself.) But don’t worry, I think you have a great shot at all of the colleges you are applying to.

Sorry, I was just shocked by how much you wrote.

If you PM me your essays I may be able to help.

My test taking is really weird.

For example:
my PSAT scores. Sophomore year I got a 59 in math
Junior year I got a 73. My intellectual capabilities didn’t improve, I just learned to pace better since I over analyze!

My Psat predicted a 650 in writing, but I got a 770. If not for careless mistakes, I would have qualified for national merit.

On the 2nd ACT I took I got a 29 in reading after getting a 31 the first time. Then, it jumped to a 35 . I think my main issue is timing. Oh well, hopefully my AP English 5 will trump SAT CR 670 :</p>

Based on my experience, Standardized Testing Doesn’t Measure true intellectual capabilities, but rather how well you take a test.

If you only saw my 59 and 65 on the psat, I doubt I would get the same respect as someone who got a 33+ on the ACT.

Some of my classmates have higher ACT scores than I do, but I find that in some of the classes we take together…Physics …Calculus…I tend to understand the concepts quicker and I am able to come up with creative solutions, though I fall to careless mistakes on test day.

To everybody out there who isn’t the best testtaker, get some practice books! Your scores are not what define you, but they are certainly considered. Make sure the adcoms see your passion, and when applying to IVY League schools make sure they can see that you are capable of the coursework. Take AP’s and do well. AP tests offer a better though not perfect measure than SAT/ACT, since they do give partial credit and allot more time.

Most advancements come with time. I mean sure Newton invented calculus in a summer, but if he were forced to do his work in only 25 minute intervals followed by a restroom break once every month or so, I probably wouldn’t be finding the area under the curve using sumations. Dostoeyvsky wasn’t forced to write in the restrictive circumstances that are imposed on us. Great writing often takes time as the author carefully considers tone, voice, style and other elements SAT/ACT readers could care less about.

If you are still reading…final note make sure to take the act/sat as soon as possible. I waited until senior year, which was a pretty bad idea…thankfully I was able to make some good marks.

Reject at HYPS on basis of low SAT.

In at the rest because of your aptitude for programming. Good luck!

Well, I only took the SAT once.
I think other scores and my transcript show I am capable of course work.

Maybe being a black girl interested in computer science might help. I don’t know, but I guess we will find out in a couple months

do you really think my SAT score will cut me out of the ivy league even though my ACT scores are good?

I would disagree. You have put yourself in a good enough position to get into these schools and all you can do now is hope. Yes, better SAT scores would help but I do not think they would help you that much more.

This is soo nerve racking at times.

black female…in at at least one of those

agree with beefs. apply to enough good places and you’ll get the good education you seek. though you probably should have retaken SAT. and about web design, i used to teach it when i was 13 so these days that’s not that large of the hook. that having been said, i’m an ordinary asian guy and you’re black female. so the web design thing looks so much better on your app.

it’s hard to say you’re IN at HYPS because these days, they’re perpetually a reach but you’re on the right track if that makes you feel better.

by the way pm me your essay and i’ll take a look.

yea, id say 90 % in at everything besides at hyps, and a good shot at getting into at least one of hyps

All that remains now is the wait…and I need to finish a final supplement

Final Bump…
