When we registered, DH was very interested in china and silver. I didn’t much care about the silver, liked the china, love crystal.

I have been to weddings recently where the registry (Target, Lowe’s) included tools. Seems logical to me, but wasn’t around when we got married (you know, back when the dinos roamed the earth).

You could also always buy lingerine or tool bags or whatever YOU think you’d like to give. Sexy aprons are always attention getting at showers–we were surprised when our mom gave them!

Good for your mom! When we got married the registry was stuff for the kitchen and dining room. At that time other “stuff” wasn’t on the radar. My husband wouldn’t have been interested in tools per se. We purchased them as we needed them.

We have been to several weddings recently. No tools, lots of china and crystal some linens, I guess really traditional stuff. The only thing that I find amusing is that the kids are definitely going 50s modern. Quite different from my generation.

Mom also bought a nice crystal clock, for us space-saving things for our small 2-bedroom place, and generally tried hard to fit the gift for the recipient. Her gifts were always treasured.

DS recently went to a wedding where video games were on the guest registry. They are a young couple with a baby on the way and they are living with his parents in the basement. I refused to allow him to buy a game. Instead, we gave them bedding (and of course baby gifts later).

For a couple that had been living together for years they had a vacation-themed registry. We got to contribute to their honeymoon.

My fiance has been joking about registering for Magic the Gathering cards. Yesterday I purchased a birdcage for holding cards, and he went, “…Magic cards?”
