Wedding Shoe Help!

This may not be at all what you are looking for, but last year for my nieces wedding all her bridesmaids (including my daughters) bought their shoes from Target online - online they had LOTS of choices - her wedding was outside at a beautiful barn butvecauseof that they wanted low heels - an inch or so - and they had lots of choices. Also most of them did think they would wear the dressy shoes again so they didn’t want to spend big $$. And they had a good size selection!! They were comfortable, stylish and had the right amount of sparkle!

My gown is long… I will have to think about that. The way it is designed I think it should be safe, but I’ll have to take a closer look at it. I would wear flats instead of sandals, but walking around in flats all day with no socks is not very comfy, so ballet flats are plan B if I can’t find comfy sandals. I wanted something more breathable to wear for such a long day. I actually haven’t found ballet flats that fit properly yet either at any of the stores I’ve walked into to try. There were some nice Steve Madden ones at DSW that came in a good gold color, but they didn’t fit well.

There are some really good options here, I especially like the lands end and the urban outfitters, and some of the ones on amazon. I like the kate spade, too, and typically if a shoe goes up to 11 I might be a 10.5 or 11. Usually it only goes up to 10 and the 10 fits, though in some more high end brands I am a 10.5 and usually there are no half sizes after 9. I’ve decided wedding gowns are way easier than shoes. Though, I ordered my gown in a 14 and I’m now an 8! I am anxious to find shoes and start fittings so the seamstress has lots of time to fix that! I’ll send these to my mom and see if we have any winners… :)

I got these last summer and they’re very comfy, despite the between the toes piece: (there’s a comfy meter in the ratings). Katie and Kelly has a similar but more ornate sandal called Phyllis too.

That’s not a bad problem to have. congrats!

I’m sure this isn’t at all what you’re thinking… but we had a friend wear red TOMS under her dress and it was adorable. They have a “bridal white” that has some sparkle.

My niece’s wife also wore red/maroon shoes with her wedding dress (which was a sort of champagne off white). Most of the time you didn’t even see them, but they were pretty startling when you did! I wore hideous platform sandals with my wedding dress completely inappropriate to the style, in my more adult opinion, but I don’t think they show up in a single photo.

I kind of like the idea of Toms, if they are comfortable for you and if they fit the style of your dress. Do they have a place like DSW shoe warehouse near you? I know it’s a pain to order online and then have to return many.

TOMS wedding styles…
http://www.toms.com/collections/wedding-styles/c</a></p>

I definitely need to find something comfy, but it is a very formal and traditional evening wedding. My dress is a satin and lace trumpet or “fit and flare” style gown with pearl and crystal details. Fiance is wearing a classic black tuxedo with a bow tie a la James Bond. ;)

I think some of the local stores may not have their entire spring collection out yet, which surprises me because it is prom season here and metallic flat sandals are a popular choice for that. Sears didn’t have ANYTHING out yet, the other stores had some stuff but I have no idea if their in-store stock is just abysmal compared to online or if they will put more out in a couple of weeks. Macy’s and Nordstrom had nothing out, not more than a pair or two of sandals each. I don’t have a whole lot of time to wait. DSW has a lot of sandals out but only a couple that could pass for formal, and they hurt my feet.

My mom LOVED the lands end ones so I think I will order those to try them out.

Ugg also caught up with the times a d introduced its ow bridal line:

http://www.uggaustralia.com/the-i-do-collection/</a></p>

:)

Those Ugg shoes are hideous! But thanks for the laugh!

I agree that ballerina flats look prettier than sandals with a gown, but Id also agree that they arent going to show.
I had actual ballet slippers, but was barefoot for the ceremony, because I had slipped one off to retie it and didnt have time to,fix it.

My thinking is that nothing will show much and that I just want my poor feet to breathe and not feel pinched. I wasn’t planning on wearing hose and ballet flats with bare feet are so uncomfortable, I never do that unless I will only be wearing the shoes a short time… my feet sweat! I also haven’t actually found any regular flats I would wear yet, I am finding a lot of glittery gold flats that look a little too wild… I’d want a more muted gold, or champagne kind of color. Like the steve madden ones at DSW were perfect only those didn’t fit my feet.

I wonder with that much more shoe if the gold would stick out too much and in that case might I be better off with ivory. I’m looking for pretty but subtle. It is hard to buy shoes for a dress you haven’t tried on in 9 months, to picture what it would look like…

my dd loves these shoes - you can find them sometimes on sale and shoe mall seems to always have a coupon

How about Chinese cotton Mary Janes? Like these: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=17651514</a> I used to live in them. You don’t need socks because they are cotton and very breathable.

Though I think I’d just hold out for sparkly sandals. Sooner or later the stores will decide they are in season.

Thought about buying a comfortable cheaper pair of plain gold sandals and glitzing them up yourself?

One of my SILs bought white canvas sneakers and a friend did the sequin/bling thing. Speaking of which, Nephew and is fiancee are having a baseball-themed wedding. Should see if she wants me to make bling-y sneakers!

I don’t know how some brides get so into the crafts. I had ONE craft project to do that took me a couple of hours, and that is the only one. I am still so overwhelmed I think I will walk away if I find even one more thing I have to do. Those brides must have more help. I want to do the bare minimum for everything that is left and just get married and be done.
