Have work in Albany but will be arriving early and will have a weekday free. Any suggestions of what to do? We’re a work group of middle aged folks.
I have never been but I think this would be fun - Schuyler Mansion. I see it is closed until May - when are you going?
The Albany Institute of History and Art is very interesting, and has a pretty cool ancient Egyptian collection, if you are into that. The USS Slater, the only remaining destroyer escort from WWII that is still afloat, is also fun to visit, but it won’t be open again until April.
You mean Albany, NY … right? There are 28 US cities/etc with name Albany.

(We once went to a 300 year parade in Albany, NY… and there were representatives from a few of those other locations)
I grew up a hour south, and my childhood school trip memory is the Captitol’s million dollar staircase

I live in a burb of Albany. The tour of the Capitol is very interesting. My H works there and there are a lot of hidden gems in the building.
You can also go to the top of the Corning Tower for a 360 degree panoramic view. It’s in the Empire State Plaza right across from the Capital. https://empirestateplaza.ny.gov/corning-tower-observation-deck
The NYS Museum is also there.
And if you want to ice skate there is an outdoor rink at the ESP.

The Art Institute is only a short walk from the Capital, also. Unfortunately, The Schuyler Sisters exhibit just closed. This is the new exhibit opening on the 25th. https://www.albanyinstitute.org/recycled-refashioned-the-art-of-ruby-silvious.html
It also houses a very large collection of the Hudson River School paintings.
The Lark Street area is interesting. It is just west of the Capitol. Restaurants, galleries, etc., and the surrounding neighborhood is filled with brownstones and many of the oldest homes in Albany. Many of the streets are still cobblestone. West of Lark Street is Washington Park - which is lovely to walk through, but less so in the winter.
If you want any restaurant suggestions pm me.
Probably not a tip for your entire group, but I used to live in the area, and was back there 5 times in the past year for business. I made it a point to visit the Talbots on Metro Park Road. I love Talbots and I love THIS Talbots - it’s a clearance center, and very large with lots of inventory to peruse. When I was last there in November they had a section of blazers for $6.99.
Albany also has some axe-throwing facilities - not my cup of tea, but may be something your group is interested in.
The Albany Institute of Art is more my cup of tea, as is the New York State Museum, as mentioned earlier.
My MIL took me to that Talbots in 1985. I just threw away some jeans from that outing last year. I still have the wool coat from Burlington Coat Factory.
Our meeting scheduled changed and we have this Thursday free.
