D2 is doing a summer abroad program in London. She is considering spending a weekend in Paris (Friday-Sunday) in June with another student.

Can anyone recommend a good budget hotel for two women traveling alone? She is looking for a safe neighborhood and easy access to the metro.

Thanks!

The train from London goes into Gare Du Nord in Paris so they might want to find a hotel in that general area so they don’t need to carry their bags too far. If you zoom in on Gare Du Nord on Google maps and then type ‘hotel’ in the ‘Search Maps’ box it’ll indicate all of the hotels in the area. You can then go to one of the travel sites to see how they rate and how much they cost. Sorry - I don’t know of a particular one to recommend but you might want to check on Hotel Ibis -

Just stayed at this place near Gar du Norde a month ago. They were mentioned in a Frommers magazine article on cheap stays in Paris. The neighborhood was ok, though not as lux as some. Bed and Breakfast. The place itself was lovely, run by a very nice and knowledgeable male couple.

Book Eurostar seats now.
Hotel Des Arts was suitable.

as someone else mentioned, definitely get Eurostar tickets ASAP.

check out hostelworld.com for locations and reviews

Thanks for the great suggestions!

I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior Latin. It’s right at the heart of the Latin Quarter, right by the Pantheon and the Sorbonne. I think it was around 108 euros a night for a twin room, which sounds expensive but split between 2 of us was not bad at all!
