weekend trip to New Haven...cancel or go?

D and I were planning to visit Yale this weekend, flying into BDL airport (Hartford) late Saturday night. Should we cancel the trip because of the severe weather conditions?

Bradley is closd today, but long range forecast for the balance of the week is clear and cold. Teens overnight, 30’s during the day. Saturday is supposedly blustery as well.

Definitely go. Severe weather conditions are part of the deal.

Unless the airport is closed, I’d go. As mini says, you’ll get a feel for winter in New England. Just because it’s cold does not mean you won’t have a nice time!

Mini should disclose that he is a card-carrying member of the Polar Bear Club who ‘finds it invigorating’ to leap into frigid waters wearing nothing but a Speedo,…

Severe weather is supposed to be over by tonight; it will just be cold over the weekend, and certainly by Saturday the schdules should be more or less back to normal.

You should definately go; barring any airport closures, of course. This will give your D a chance to experience New Haven at it’s worst; to see if she can handle it!

besides, new haven did not get hit very hard today.

Husband and D flew in and out of BDL exactly a year ago during winter break for a college trip. Weather did NOT make for easy driving but no real problems. (Though one freeway was shut down for a couple of hours!) Best to know what she’s in for!

Things really do get back up and running pretty quick. Didn’t seem to bother my D, she’s going back that way for college next year.

By Saturday things should be fine. This is really not that bad today-- I was just out driving around in Fairfield County (business necessity driving) – but I wouldn’t recommend it for tourism in a rental car!

By Saturday things will be winter-normal.

Canceling and then rescheduling would be difficult and expensive.
