I have been using the Shotsy app to track shots and weights (it can do calories and macros too but I don’t do those.) So I can look there and see where last shot was. For the past few months I’ve been alternating arms
It’s especially useful for when to take the next because I’ve set it to every ten days so I don’t have to keep track.
You can rotate quadrant always in the same direction. Say, top right for week 1, top left week 2, bottom left week 3, and bottom right week 4. That way you know that if you are on your 3rd injection of a pack, you are also on your 3rd quadrant.
Looks like my insurance is no longer covering GLP1s, which is just as well since I’m about to quit my job anyway and will have to pay for coverage on the Mass exchange.
Has anyone navigated this? Where are you getting your meds? My doc says NOT to do compounded.
Lilly Direct for Zep. $299 for the starter dose. I pay $399 for the 5mg. I am losing weight on that dose and don’t plan to increase. I’d like to lose 10lbs more and then move to maintenance. I can use my FSA/HSA account to purchase. They have the Kwikpen, which is easy to use.
Great idea - but I can’t inject low because of scar tissue that I have (I’m worried about absorption through the scar tissue).
I’ve only been on the Wegovy 1.5 pill for 2 weeks and haven’t weighed in yet. Will step on scale in the morning as soon as I get up after a quick pee. Hopefully, a few pounds off. I don’t know if I’ve lost, I feel like I have but apparently I am one of those people that the 1.5 pill works on right away. No hunger at all. I am continuing to use MyCarbManager as my macro guide but allowing more carbs than I have previously, my protein intake is the same, always high. But, this little tiny magic pill allows me to stay on course, no distractions, no food noise. I hope I have lost something, if not, will check at the end of 30 days when back at the doc for check in. No side effects whatsoever. The BEST thing so far is my husband, who like me is not prediabetic and relatively healthy other that being obese. Very difficult to get a Dr to take you seriously and he’s on an HMO that just doesn’t want to do GLP unless you go through their weight loss diet/exercise program first. Great, he won’t do that. So, he’s considering RO, I hope he does it. He seems like the kind of person this would really work for. He has sweet cravings and he snacks late at night and it seems this little pill might help him. Hope he tries it and it works. I’m pumped for both of us!
Can someone talk to me about the weight loss and “wegovy face” or whatever people call it? I know a person close to me was taking a GLP-1, but she really wasn’t exercising much, or eating right. I’ve heard it’s really important to make sure you exercise and get lots of protein. BUT, is it any more important than if you were losing a lot of weight some other way?
(I am not a GLP-1 user, but trying to educate myself. Thanks in advance)
I have heard it’s the “losing a lot of weight fast” is what causes Ozempic face (you add 10 years to your looks) due to sagging skin, etc. I believe I read it would happen regardless of how you lost the weight if you lost the same large amount quickly. You should lose the weight slowly with protein, hydration, and exercise. Same as the Dr told you all your life, but now it’s easier to stay on course. Some people jump the gun and don’t eat enough calories, don’t load up on the protein, don’t exercise and drop mega weight fast but pay for it in other ways.
I don’t carry a lot of weight in my face, but I notice it does look slimmer. I have both of my daughters on “face watch” to make sure it stays looking natural. I’m on Zep currently but started off on an Ozempic compound.
First 2 weeks of 1.5 Wegovy pill and down 5 pounds. Feels like it should be more but I drank an electrolyte powder early evening yesterday, perhaps it held a lot of water in - salty. But, still very happy. Have absolutely no thoughts of having restricted food for the last couple of weeks. If I could do 10 pounds a month and not lose muscle/strength and keep my face from ending up on my shoulders, I will be very, very happy!
Are there any users on Medicare who have been successful in getting a GLP-1 covered under the government bridge program? H asked his doctor about it last month and doc was clueless. Messaged doc with links when the program went live and they still can’t seem to figure it out (asked for it to be covered under his regular Medicare and of course it was denied). If anyone has any tips I’d be grateful. Currently through Lilly Direct it’s close to $500 - I’d much rather pay the $50.
When I saw my doctor two weeks ago, they’d only just gotten the info on the program. She started to fill in the online forms, changed a couple of things to show a diagnosis instead of a note, and said we’d be ready to go when I see her next month to go over labs. I believe she focused on pre-diabetes and BMI.
As long as you meet their requirements, it should be approved. It’s not dependent on whether or not your insurance covers it.
Thanks for the tips. I am trying to train my husband to do more health related things for himself and it’s been like herding cats. The CVS pharmacist explained to him that it first needed to be rejected as not covered by his Medicare supplement; then the doctor completes the form required by the bridge program and then it’s reviewed by Humana to see if he’s eligible. H was confused by all the messages from the doctor’s office and the pharmacy. It should not be this difficult.
Question for those getting appetite suppression. When do you tend to experience the most suppression? I was initially getting it the morning after my shot. But now it more like a day and a half later.
Did my 8th shot on Sunday. I’ve noticed that I feel the most off for a few days when I inject into my stomach. The appetite suppressant is also stronger.
I’m going out of town with family and I’m contemplating whether to skip a week or take one shot with me. We have two days of driving to get there and it will be hot. I can bring a cooler but half of me thinks I’ll just take a week off.
I met w/ Dr after 30 days on my Wegovy 1.5 pill, I only lost 8 lbs total, but that’s 2 lbs a week. I’m good with that. Dr thought I’d want to go up to 4 lbs but I don’t. This 1.5 is easy and I have no side effects and it just helps not cheat on my regular diet. So what took me 2 years to lose 30 lbs because I kept falling off the wagon, should be faster now. Also, hopefully, won’t gain it all back when I quit the pill if I lose it slowly. Sadly, Medicare will not cover so I have to pay out of pocket for it….Dr said she would still prescribe, it’s just $149 this month and up to $199 next month. I do feel very good even 8lbs lighter.
Any tips on hair loss? I’ve been on Zepbound since November (5ml for the past 6 months) and I’m having a lot of hair loss. I have very thick hair so its not really noticeable to others but I notice it in my hairbrush and shower. I’m taking a Biotin vitamin but its not really helping. Anyone try Nutrafol? Does it actually work? Its expensive. Anything else that has helped? Dr said it usually stops after about 5 months but can anyone confirm that happened to them? I’m down 30 pounds and just shy of my goal weight so overall am very happy with the medication.
