Green tea has anti-oxidants. We’ve switched to (home brewed) decaf. green tea w/ dinner every night.
The only drawback I’ve heard about Lipton bottled green tea is that citric acid (for the lemony flavor?) is pretty high on the ingredients list. So you wouldn’t want to sip on it all day every day.

Anybody gained weight from working out?
I’ve been a regular walker since last spring but decided I needed to amp it up to get my heart rate up. Since Christmas, I’ve been jogging several times a week (and walking w/ DH on weekends). The muscles in my thighs def. tell me something is going on down there. My scales say I’m a pound +ounces heavier than my pre-jogging avg. weight.

I’m still eating the same diet and did not overdo at Christmas. DH says it has to be the jogging. Anyone?

I am changed, still don’t feel like going but I just might.
Packmom- my D was working out a ton and had firmed up and become pretty lean but found for the first 4-5 months she did not lose a pound. According to her trainer at her gym she wasn’t eating enough. They reworked her diet and the pounds began to fall off. They also say muscle weighs more.

Have a little weight program I have been doing for a little metabolism boost, but not enough muscle formation yet to make a difference in my weight.

Glad the fracture has healed, WNP2, and your out racewalking again.

Would you care to share your regimen? How often a week? How many at a time?

My trainer tells me I dont eat enough but I am not buying it, but it may be the issue for you. It is recommended to drink green tea three times a day. I ususally get two by using a big mug. Republic of tea has great teas and I really enjoy them

Green tea and black tea are pretty much identical when it comes to antioxidants. I would avoid bottled Lipton teas not because of citric acid but because of added sweeteners and food dyes. Yuck.

PackMom, do you have skinny jeans or boots? If they became tight in the calf, that is a good indicator your legs got more muscle. Mine definitely feel different after training. I also gained a pound or two while ramping up my running before my big race, but lost them during the fall months.

Starting weight: 177.8
Current weight: 166.0

-11.4 lbs since around December 1st

This small loss makes me very determined this week. I am ready to be healthy and am yearning to run. Just not yet, want to get my weight down below 160. Overall, I am feeling like a different person. Love it.

Wow, mspearl, that is great! Holidays are a tough time for weight loss. I’m amazed that I managed to maintain my weight, and DH even lost a couple of pounds during December, despite going thrugh an entire pack of butter and a quart sized jar of Hawaiian honey!

Weigh in today–down another 2 pounds. I got a new bike for Christmas and I have gone on 4 10-mile rides this week (great Southern California weather plus a bike trail near my home) plus a competitive tennis doubles match yesterday.

Hi Everyone!
I’ve been holding steady with my weight but have been eating too much since Christmas and am waiting for it to catch up with me. I have been exercising a lot, though and that may be helping with the maintenance. Tomorrow is my birthday and the binge will continue but as of Monday, no more alcohol for a month and cutting further back on the carbs.

Like a lot of people, taking better care of myself was my NY resolution this year. I am extra motivated because, of course, living well is the best revenge and I am in a shocking marital situation at the moment.

Anyways, 2 weeks in on WWatchers online and 6 times/week exercise (twice with trainer, 4 times aerobics- swim, walk, crosstrainer for 45-60 minutes). Easier than I expected, except the nausea during strength/flexibility training- what is that all about? It helps that all of the people in my office are having fun counting points, while I am doing it for real. I feel like this is sustainable and I am really getting into a mindset, not dieting (which has been my downfall in the past). Got on the scale yesterday- 5.5 lbs lost in 2 weeks!

My H, while doing a “scientific experiment” with the aid of my Garmin watch, carried it around the house for 30 min. He managed to walk .36 miles even though that was not the goal at all! H went up and down the stairs, sat on the couch, moved around the kitchen… It is amazing how much walking one actually does if s/he does not sit at a desk all day.

So… I bought some new workout clothes, got all dressed and headed to the gym. It was closed due to a power outage! Karma? Well, I was a good doobee and went to another gym that was opened and worked out. I also had a tear- jerker moment. I cancelled our s’s membership as where he will be living after school there are none of this chain of fitness centers. As it is we freeze the membership when he is at school and he uses it only when he is home… Which will be no more. They gave me a free week pass for him. Boo hoo. This was a sad realization.

jym626-You and my son must have been at the gym at the same time. He was in town this weekend and headed to LAF, only to find the power was out. He works out almost everyday, but since we had plans for the afternoon, he decided to skip today instead of heading to another branch.

I was telling DH about the 10,000 steps/day and wondering how far that would actually be. His engineering brain quickly estimated that 10,000 steps would be roughly 2 miles.
