Tracyvp, you’re inspirational!

You can always go triathlon-style.

I bought 7 pairs of M running shorts in the last three weeks. I don’t see going down to an S anytime soon but I’ll just wear the Ms of that happens. I have to use the drawstrings with the XLs.

Have to share.

I have started running a little on the last section of my walk. Had to stop running today… because my sweat pants were falling down. Time for a trip to Target for mediums! YeaH!!!

I went looking through the SI swimsuit issue to find my new summer suit but apparently they don’t make suits large enough for me because they didn’t even fit the models. The suits were falling off them too! Just like us LOL…

I figure I’ve saved enough on food costs over the last nine months to cover a few new clothes items (just cutting out Diet Coke most of the time alone was quite a savings).

Can I join in? I started Weight Watchers on Monday, March 20. I’ve lost 3.8 pounds so far. I cringe to write it, but I need to lose about 45 pounds total.

Tracy, C25K is an AWESOME program. And it’s fine for you to post that link. I started C25K back in 2006. It was hard for me to run even 90 seconds straight back then! I will warn you that the tough part for me was when I was supposed to jump from 8 minutes running to 20 minutes. I just couldn’t make it 20 minutes without stopping, so I increased by a couple of minutes a time. Feel free to modify the program whenever/however you need to.

Within a couple of years, I could run 9 miles without stopping. And I am as non-athletic as you get!! I’ve run three half marathons (with some walking breaks), a few 10Ks, and lots of 5Ks.

What happened with my weight was that my two sons were diagnosed with mental illness the past year, and I was so stressed out that I stopped running and ate lots of comfort food. They’re stabilized now, so I feel like I can concentrate on ME now! Today I ran 1.6 miles straight. Not great, but a start!

That’s a wonderful problem to have.

Walked three miles today instead of running it because DH is not a runner and wanted some exercise too. When I ran in the neighborhood last week, younger folks kept blowing by me on the trail. I am not fast. I’m vowing to not let my resolve be crushed by twenty-somethings with no cellulite wearing tiny shorts.

Mainelonghorn, good for you! Nice to have a super mod here to keep us in line Packmom, I’m with you. I will be happy if, eventually, I feel ok wearing my Lucy workout pants and a longish jacket (not completely butt-covering though) to the market. I walk fast, but I’m no runner!

I like that. I think I will make it my new philosophy of life.

My willpower experienced a dive this weekend. Help!!! Stormy here today, so no walk. I’ll try to do our three flights of stairs as much as possible today, but I have a bad habit of undermining myself just when I start to see progress. Gulp. It’s Monday…look ahead!

PackMom, I am ALWAYS way behind other people when I run.

When I was in shape, I signed up for a boot camp. I was proud of myself for running a couple of miles beforehand. I ran up to the instructor and she said, “MaineLonghorn!” I was waiting for her to praise me for my extra effort. Instead, she said, “We really need to work on your speed!” That has been my experience with coaches, gym teachers, etc. my whole life!

I ran 22 minutes straight this morning, at about 13:00 pace. Slow as Christmas, but I did it! I go to Weight Watchers this afternoon.

Fellow WL4D members, I have been on vacation and eating my way through the various cuisines available in Miami. Cuban, check; Nicaraguan, check; stone crabs, check; BBQ, check; Argentinian tonight?

Still, it’ll feel great to get back home and go back to my own schedule…

I have lost 6.4 pounds in three weeks. I think the running is paying off.

Mainelonghorn- congrats! Keep running!

Ellenmenope- sounds yummy

Yesterday was tough! First day I have had like that in a while. I was sooooo hungry in the afternoon. I went to Curves in the morning and normally I head home have a quick shower and go to the office for a few hrs. Come home , have lunch then walk some point in the afternoon. Fearing it was going to rain, I went ahead and walked in the morning and missed my snack and just had an early lunch. Even after I had some fruit as an afternoon snack, I still wanted to keep snacking aaaaaahhhh!

Weight loss as of this morning 14.4 pounds.

Gibson1415, congrats on the 14.4. When I have the munchies I turn to baby carrots. I keep a giant bag of them in the frig. at all times. And I always keep sugarless gum on hand.
Somehow when my jaws are chomping the gum, I don’t think about eating other foods as much.
Mainelonghorn, it takes me 35 min. to run 3 miles so I’m "speeding " right along with you!

This is an informative and inspirational thread. I’m going to enjoy reading it and look forward to adding info. I love my Total Gym and use it 5 days a week. I look forward to the day that I can resume running. I’m too heavy to run now without causing knee problems so it’s pounding the treadmill with walking instead!

Well, I’m bumping us up. Today I ate everything in sight. That can’t be good.

I ate out TWICE today. Ack. Tonight DH wanted to go to a Chinese food buffet!! I managed to stick to fruit and salad, for the most part. I got a little bit of fried rice with chicken & broccoli. I don’t think I did too much damage.

bugalowdweller, good luck to you! I hope you can try running before too long. It really does help melt the weight off of a person.

I ate everything in sight the last 2 days, but got it back together today. Is it the moon? Daylight savings? Let’s all get back on track–we’re doing so well!

Weighing in tomorrow after a week’s vacation eating throughout Miami. I expect a bad number, but looking forward to getting back onto my schedule.

Actually, I’m looking forward to seeing how the C25K works…I am NOT a runner, but the program sounds fun.
