Reporting in that one week after the long car trip my two pound weight gain is gone and I’m back to normal. I’m headed back on that same trip (We do it a couple of times/month. It’s our second home) this week. It will be interesting to see what my weight does this time. I’ll be the WLFD travel/weight gain experiment.

Pulled some shorts out of the closet yesterday that I bought last Fall off a clearance rack. They fit perfectly when I bought them. I remember thinking “gee, I hope these will still fit next spring”. When I put them on yesterday they were too big!!!

Yay packmom!! Great news!! Happy shopping for replacements!!

Tomorrow will be one week of my “back in the groove” diet. We’ve eaten out twice this week and will be going out again tonight. But… the weight loss so far this week ( I expect/hope to maintain tomorrow) - 5 lbs! I know this rate wont continue, but its a great start!! My goal is to lose 18-20 lbs (hopefully 20) so I am on my way! My DH said he could tellI’ve lost weight .Whatta guy.

Thanks NJ Theatremom–Good info! I have to say, Dr. Oz suggested taking this for 5 days–the implication was to boost some fat-burning in specific areas, not to make it a long-term thing. Interesting. Raspberries are one of my fave foods–if they weren’t so expensive, I’d eat them every day!

Bleeping Dr Oz!!! That’s why my Costco was out of raspberries!

I’m so happy to hear the good WLFD news! My achievements of the week: I’m proud to say that I gained a much needed pound and can now do three sets of 30 pushups with a few minutes of rest between the sets.

Bottom line: eating chocolate several times a week is associated with a lower BMI. Excuse me please while I go make a small quality check on the easter egg stash.

I have some chocolate I have to finish this week b/c it’s not kosher for Passover (not that chocolate isn’t, but some of the ingredients aren’t.) I will gladly make this sacrifice.

And, of course, make certain that there is kosher for Passover chocolate to replace it! I care about my family. ;)

Don’t know if anyone saw the 60 Minutes piece on last Sunday about sugar. That was sobering…my sugar intake has gone way down because I am watching my calories. But to call sugar a “toxin?” Hmmm…

We saw that too ellemenope. It was kinda scary. DH got up and went to check the sugar content of the fat free yogurt we eat every day. Surprising differences… the Dannon Lite&Fit has 80 calories and 11 gms of sugar. The store brand yogurt I bought yesterday has 80 calories but only 8 gms of sugar. Guess he was right when he said “a calorie is not just a calorie”.

didn’t catch 60 minutes last night. Should I try to find it online?
I just came home from my physical. My Dr said I look great. Weight was up a bit due to water retention from the pizza Saturday night but still good. 20+ llbs since 2010. I tend to retain water but my blood pressure is excellent. We talked about continued weight loss and what I see as my ideal weight for myself. She suggested all the things we have talked about on WWFD. Good fats, avocado, nuts, portion control.Eating small meals often so you don’t overeat when you are starved. A diet to live not a diet to lose weight. Still have to go in for my blood work but I think my numbers should come back great.

Down 3.4 pounds this week, after my gain last week. Whew! Total of 10.4 pound lost in six weeks. My Weight Watchers group at the Y is not going to continue, so I have to find a new one.

My biggest victory this week was NOT going out for dinner with my husband and sons. They wanted to eat Tex-Mex food, and I knew that would be a disaster (you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the girl!). My daughter decided to stay home with me, and we just hung out with each other.

We did go to Applebee’s one night. I love how they list all of the calories on the menu, and even have a few entrees with WW points. We told the waitress that’s why we went there to eat. She said we were the FIRST people to tell her they liked the calorie listings! Everybody complains about them, apparently.

I’m looking forward to my annual physical in six weeks. I should be close to a BMI of 25 at that point.

Mainelonghorn, O’Charley’s menu has some entree’s with the number of calories shown too .
If we go there, I get the bruschetta chicken. It comes with a vegetable as a side and has500 calories. My other fav. is the tilapia dinner It has even fewer calories.
