S1,my Spec.Ops Navy officer, is a body builder and nutrition fanatic. He says that it is important to eat some fat (the good kind…like in nuts) along with the carbs you take in. The fat slows down the absorption of carbs to help prevent the huge “sugar spike” in your bloodstream that carbs produce.

re bread: I buy Nature’s Own whole wheat bread. It has 50 calories per slice and only 10 carbs. I have become a fanatical label reader. The differences in products that appear to be the same thing are amazing…the amt. of sugar in different brands of peanut butter for instance.

OK, I need help. Well, at the very least I need a safe place to vent. I posted much earlier in this thread, but today I am about to tear my hair out. I started WW in March and was moving nicely in the right direction. Given that my goal loss is only about 15 pounds I recognized that it might take me a long time, but then, it started going in the reverse direction. I knew that the 10 days over Passover were difficult - I didn’t stay on program, my S2 was home for the first time in 9 months (studying overseas) and there was little time for exercise. Back on the scale and I was back over my starting weight. Uggh. So this past week I was very careful. Water, exercise, stayed on program - and I gained another pound. That’s almost 7 pounds in 3.5 weeks. I have not been this heavy since college and now, with recently diagnosed high blood pressure, it’s even more important that I lose the excess weight. I don’t know, I went back on program strictly this morning. I will ramp up the exercise and see what I can do. I’ll give it a solid month and then see if there’s any chance the BP meds could have impacted my weight. I also think I need to join a gym, get a trainer - something. My treadmill and hand weight routines just don’t seem to be effective. Any suggestions? And thank you, thank you, thank you for listening.

Just stick with it. The most important thing about WW is to USE all of your daily points. Don’t think you will lose weight faster by using less points than allotted. I will say, in MY experience (I’ve been a lifetime member for years)…you might want to eat more veggies, and less fruits. The new plan has NO points for all fruits and the old one had points for fruits. For many I know…that makes a difference.

Runnersmom, I was on BP meds (for a heart issue) for a year, and they can impact your ability to lose weight. I would contact your Dr. and ask about that. You might also try to change your treadmill routine every other day to interval training - mix fast walking (or jogging) for 30-60 secs in with walking at a normal pace. Your body can get used to a certain level of cardio and shocking it a bit helps.

It is harder to lose a lesser amount of weight sometimes–I’ve lost 10-12 of my 21 lbs and the last 10 are sssslllllooooowwww going. Keep on it! Good luck!

Thanks all. I know it’s one day at a time, and so it shall be!

After gaining .3 pounds last week, I lost 0.1 pounds this week…in other words, I have stayed the same weight-wise for the past 2 weeks. Have I hit the dreaded…

PLATEAU?

Ugh. Did a little stress eating and it showed. I have been within the same few pounds for a month. But have some continued stressful stuff to face, and then son’s graduatoin in a town KNOWN for its restaurants, so it iwll be tough.

ellemenope…I am right there with you! I am on the lose 2-3 lbs, plateau for 10 days; lose a few more…track. ARGH!!!

Well, my disabled back is starting to show on my waistline :(

^Yikes, a double whammy, EPTR…is that fair?!

No. It’s not fair but when has anything ever been fair?! The question, this week, for my PT is "When can i start exercising at the gym again? "

I feel like 9 months of work is going down the tube.

Bumping us from page 3.

Hang in there EPTR! Let your body heal and you can get back on track.

Weight loss to date 25.5 pounds. I am hovering at bmi 25.01. I so want to be "normal "

WOW!! Congrats Gibson!! I am back to my low of a few weeks ago (Apr 5) but have about 11 lbs more to go. I essentially stayed within 1.5-2 lbs this past month. I need to step up the exercise. Knees are feeling better so this is doable.

Weigh in today…still holding at goal! And the favorite jeans still fit.

I was very surprised to go to WW last night and discover I had lost 2.8 pounds this week! We ate out several times and my daughter made brownies, my downfall.

The previous week was only 0.4 pounds lost, so I guess it averages out. I’ve now lost 15.2 pounds in 10 weeks. Seven pounds to go to a BMI of 25, but I want to lose 19 pounds more after that, to get to a BMI of 22.

“Persistence, not perfection!”

Weigh in later today. So far, in 5 weeks, I have lost (on a lo carb regimen) 12 lb- 9 lb fat and 3 lb water.
But I have really slowed down- I only lost 1.5 lb total in the most recent 2 weeks, so I am scared of what I will learn today- hope I am losing at least 1 lb a week!!! If not, I will have to review my whole regimen in detail.

I still have many lb to lose, so I have to pace myself, but make sure I am not sabotaging the weight loss- a fine balance!!

Good news from many here- very inspiring!

Wow–Performersmom, that’s awesome. I have to get through my stagnation here. I’m at a conference, and am trying to NOT eat everything they put out–muffins, rolls etc. Not getting much exercise, but trying to exercise restraint instead!

Thanks, SJTH. The weigh-in yesterday turned out to be positive for me: lost 2.2 lb- all in fat- so YAY. 6 week total is 14.3 lb (10.4 muscle and rest is water, no muscle lost yet- yay) Still have many pounds to go, but it is week to week for me.
But I had a little peanut butter last night after dinner (stirfry) and I almost fell out ketosis for the first time this AM. Checked the label- the gd PB has SUGAR in it! And it is one of the super-healthy organic brands- GRRRR.
Anyway, between weekly weigh-ins, the ketostix keep me on track, i.e. away from sugar and starch!
You can do this if I can!

Yes, about conferences. I am doing a very lo carb regimen. I just went to a conference about cancer, attended my MD’s, primarily. We were off in an an office complex, no cars or transportation for the entire day, basically stranded, and on a weekend, so no other people around.
What sort of food did they serve- all carbs! Sandwiches, cookies, sodas. I picked open the sandwich for meat and cheese, but I almost died of hunger. It almost did me in, I was dizzy. Second day, I brought my own food and snacks and water.
Crazy- this was a HEALTH conference. And yes, the food was beautifully presented, so very hard to resist…
