jym we saw the MJ Cirque in January and were also wowed. A few months after that we saw a traveling production of Wicked, and it didn’t come close. I don’t think I’ve seen a play or opera that comes close to any Cirque I’ve seen.

I did well eating yesterday and today. Yesterday I walked 4.5 miles with my H and some friends (who are in way better shape than we are!)

Today I bought shorts for the first time in about eight years. Not because I look better in them or have gotten in shape, but because, now that I’m 51, other women my age’s legs are starting to look as bad as mine always have! I finally fit in!

Stepped on the scales today and no matter how I read it, I’m down more than two pounds! I have 35 to go. At this rate, I’ll be almost there by the time school starts - sooner, even.

Bringing us back to page 1. How did everyone survive the 4th?
I stepped on the scale yesterday after pretty much avoiding it for the last month. I was pleased that I have only put on 2 lbs. I have been letting too many carbs back into my diet. Monday I went back to keeping track of what I eat on Live Strong. I don’t want the lbs lost to slowly creep back on.
I am going to a potluck tonight. Need a side dish to share. Any ideas? Usually I bring a greek salad but have feta yesterday so would like to come up with something else that doesn’t contain pasta.

Spicy green beans to share? Tasty and not many calories…A low cal salad that you can eat a lot of and then only dollop yourself tastes of the other dishes?

Potlucks are not good for me…portion control goes out the window. I’ll have a little of this and a little of that. Pretty soon, all of those “littles” add up to a “BIG.”

mom60, stir together a can of drained black beans, a can of drained corn, a can of diced tomatoes w/ mexican seasoning (says it on the can) and a half of a finely chopped red onion. Serve at room temp. or chilled. Easy, cool, people love it.
Double it if yu need a lot.

Ha! I ended up with too many eggplants and in searching for a recipe came upon that one!! I made it for our 4th of July party, using feta instead of goat cheese. People liked it. I also made baba ganoush for before dinner, served with pita and raw veggies…big hit!

I did okay on the fourth. A little too much guacamole, though. Today I went out for Mexican food but turned down the icecream for dessert. Small steps.

Hayden: upthread you asked about the treadmill; if you find 4 incline and 3.4 speed becoming comfortable then I would increase either the incline or the speed or both. You want to keep your heart rate up or in the range for your age - google heart rate for your age and you will find charts.

Oooof, just back from a week long vacation eating and drinking everything in sight. Fresh berry cobbler, local wines, strawberry pie, local beers, more salmon than you can shake a stick at…and the bread!
Hitting the track tomorrow morning.

Ellemenope … I hope you bounce back soon! I have a relative that had the ‘summer flu’ and it turned out to be encephalitis, so hopefully you’re getting good care.

Everybody is after me to go to a doctor, but I swear I feel better every time I think of making an appointment. I may have to break down and go…

Okay … maybe it would help you to make the appointment if I told you that the encephalitis (likely caused by a mosquito bite) caused her to end up in a coma for several months.

I hope it’s just a minor virus or flu, but if you have had headaches or loss of appetite or dizziness, please make an appointment.
