ellemenope- have you had a fever? Make your family happy and just go. If it was one of your D’s what would you tell them?
I made the grilled eggplant from the food network site. I used walnuts and some expensive balsalmic vinegar that my friend had given me. It was a big hit.

It could also be something like Lyme Disease. There are lots of diseases that wax and wane or have amorphous symptoms.

My friend felt terrible for weeks. After a couple of trips to the Dr., it was determined that she had a horrible sinus infection and needed a heavy duty antibioitic to knock it out.

Ellemenope: please go to the Dr. Could be something low-level that antibiotics will snap right out of you. Can’t keep a good woman down.

I’m back from our gastronomic tour of Scotland and Amsterdam. I’m afraid of the scale…but I’m also pretty much sick of food!

I’ll report in when I’m braver…and for help getting back on my pre-vacation track!!!

For some reason, my appetite is off a bit the last couple of days. I’m enjoying it while it lasts.

Ellemenope,
Go to the doctor so we can stop nagging you. It isn’t normal to have a “flu” for three weeks. I had something like that in the spring and it was a sinus infection without all of the typical symptoms. A “Z” pack set me straight.

Hello Dummies!
Also back from visiting “home” Scotland and a side trip to Barcelona- fantastic city.

Happy to receive lots of compliments from family and friends on my weight loss and even happier that I didn’t put on any weight will gone. I am still in shock that I didn’t gain. I had most of my fav foods- though I did eat a lot less than I did on previous years. Split fish and chips with my sister, just had a taste of cakes etc. Tried to move more, but the weather was very WET and difficult to walk anywhere without getting drenched.

H’s theory is my metabolism is ramped up with my increased levels of exercise. I am hoping that I don’t show the pounds in a week or so. I will be carefully watching the scales.

SJTH- hope you enjoyed my homeland
Ellemenope- I concur with everyone visit the doc!!!

Popping up from ‘lurking’ again… LMNOP, please go to the Dr. Lyme’s is terrible this year in many areas of the country because of the mild winter. Often you never recall the bite.

Been on the road traveling for two weeks. Spent a lot of time on the car (almost 2000 miles!). I ate pretty well except more sandwiches for lunches than normal.Hiked, biked, ran and walked a lot which made me more hungry. Scared to get on the scales this a.m. Was up 4 pounds…shocked. Went out and ran 3 miles. Got on scales again and was one lb. less. Am hoping some of the gain is the whole travel, sitting in a car a lot thing. Those extra 3 lbs. gotta go.
Supposed to rain off and on the rest of the week…throws a kink in my exercise plan…ugh.

All right…

^^^^
Atta girl :)

Any new news from our ketone rat?

justforthis - thanks, that’s really helpful.

LMNOP - good luck with the doctor. Look forward to hearing you’re getting better.

Everyone - good job on limiting the damage from 4th of July pignics!

Well, I’m thinking of joining Weight Watchers online. I started this thread a year ago, lost a few pounds, gained them all back and am just stuck.

I’m thinking that having the added accountability of WW will help me, especially since they have added a free phone app to use on the go.

Also want to mention that I read an article last night about exercise and visceral fat (the stuff around organs and under the muscles). The article said that they did a study that showed that the best way to lose it is using interval sprint type of exercise. For instance, jog for 1.5 min and sprint for 30 sec. The subjects did this for 20 minutes, three times per week and lost more than the group who jogged everyday.

I’m off to the gym where I will try this approach on the eliptical and get my starting weight for WW!

Just an observation: I don’t have a weight problem but in the heat wave of last week, my exercise level dropped off drastically. It’s amazing how easily you can get used to just sitting around. :(

Glad we’re having more “normal” summer weather now!

I haven’t been on much because my weight has stayed within a pound or two for the last month. Still didn’t get to normal on the Wii fit (ounces to go) or total of 50 (2 lbs to go) but at least I’m staying steady. I know it’s because I’ve gotten a bit lax on eating - not a lot more, and nowhere near where I was before I started WLfD, but still. I’m OK with not losing because I know why.

I’m starting to get more clothes that fit this weight - another new bathing suit. It’s a tankini with a skirted bottom; actually two different manufacturers but looks great together. The top is the waterlily fabric [Product: Caribbean Joe® Waterlily Navy Asymmetrical Tankini Swim Top](<a href=“BONTON | Bonton”>BONTON | Bonton) in the pleated tankini style: [Product: Caribbean Joe® Black Love Story Pleated Tankini Swim Top](<a href=“BONTON | Bonton”>BONTON | Bonton). It’s got great support! This is the bottom: [Product: Relativity® Blue Solid Skirt Swimwear Bottom](<a href=“BONTON | Bonton”>BONTON | Bonton). I got them 30% off plus an additional 20% coupon. Plus a few years back I got a beach shawl on St. Martin while on a cruise and never had anything to wear it with - it goes GREAT with the new suit. I wore this new suit to meet a group of strangers on the beach (trying out a Meetup group, if you all know what that is).

I’m still starting most days with 20 minutes on the Wii fit but today we loaded up the bikes, picked up a free zoo pass at the library, parked half an hour from the zoo, biked there, walked around for an hour, had a healthy lunch (grapes, cheese, small slice of walnut bread - new kind of zoo food, right?), then biked back to the car. Then we stopped for a small soft serve cone on the way home. Ooops! Although my thigh muscles are a bit unhappy, they never turned to jelly, and I never got winded.

Gibson, I did enjoy Scotland–we were touring way up north Skye and the Orkneys. Its beautiful–and such archaeological history–stood in a house that was more than 6000 years old on Orkney. Actually avoided outright rain, then had some sun in Amsterdam on the way home. Gained 4 lbs, sigh. Back in the saddle!

I’m the ketone rat–didn’t stay consistent during our trip, so I’m back on consistency this week and will report. Preliminary report: there is no magic.

SJTH … thanks for the update. I’m finding that I’m not very consistent at taking my vitamin D, so maybe that also explains my lapses in judgement of counting my carbs. My suspicion is that if you’re disciplined enough to take one more vitamin-shaped tablet per day (or twice a day?), then you’re also disciplined enough to watch your carbs/calories if you want to lose weight. Please prove me wrong and then I’ll magically drop this 5-10 pounds that have changed my shape!

I vowed not to post here unil I had gone to the doctor. Walking pneumonia, I’m taking a Z Pack (antibiotics), and plan to feel better than ever by Monday.

So glad you finally went! Thanks for the update.

ellemenope, so glad you went to the doctor. I’ll bet you are too. You should feel so much better in 48 hours.
