Ralph Lauren thanks you for the compliments and wants you to know that his dress is nicer looking than the one in the picture. It pulls me in and holds me up where I need pulling and holding, and fortunately does not make me look like an eggplant. I couldn’t believe how many of the dresses at TJ Maxx were strapless or one shoulder - my strapless bra days are long behind me, I fear.

DH does appreciate my weight loss and wishes he could do the same. He’s much better than me at exercising but not very good on portion control. Lately his compliments are mostly about how good I am at killing the flies that seem to be invading our house.

I weighed in this morning and was down 2.5 pounds for this week! Last week I stayed the same and the week before I lost 1 lb. I don’t know why I lost so much this week, as I am aiming for 1 lb/week, and I actually did better last week, going to the gym more. I should probably start using a rolling average, but I really don’t want to weigh in each day.

^ Whoot-whoot nymom!! That’s awesome! I track my weight on the livestrong app. It gives you a nice line graph to see overall progress. I used to use it to track eating as well and found it really useful when I was more aggressive in earlier weight loss. I’m moving more towards maintenance so I don’t track food anymore but it’s all there in one place if you want it.

2 1/2 pounds is a great week, nymom! My Wii Fit also does a line graph but now it looks like I’ve been down the Rockies and passed Denver heading east - pretty flat line for a while. I think it’s still going downhill but sloooooooooooooooooooowly.

I’m back from the college drop-off, and I’m really blue. I’ll weigh in in the morning, but definitely will be back on track. I am not an empty nest lover yet. Will I ever be? Iguana–you’re another inspiration on here–and JYM–2 lbs is NOTHING!!! go girl!

I’ve not been able to ride my bike this week because I have been going to the doctor’s. No, no health problems…but as part of this “healthy lifestyle” change, I have decided that avoiding doctors and medical procedures like the plague for the past 20 years was probably never a good idea. So, this week, I have been to the doctor, had blood drawn and now have 5 other appointments scheduled. YIKES!

ellemenope - good for you. These will be over soon and then “maintenance” appointments will be a piece of cake! And you’ll deserve a…piece of cake!

jym626- I will start again with you after labor day. I need to steal the scale back from my D’s bathroom. I find the scale helps keep me honest. I am eating way too much bread. It is a slippery slope for me. My clothes are all still fitting but I feel like the gloated mid section is coming back.

I’m up with my Mom in NH. So far doing fine. Ate at the local Asian place. Had two appetizers - one a shrimp spring roll (not fried), the other duck lettuce wraps. I’ve mostly had big salads for lunch. I think I’m down to my pre-Cape Cod weight where I definitely ate too many lobster rolls. I kayaked every day, but didn’t get a lot of other weight bearing exercise in.

So here I am back in the hotel after the wedding and it went very well. It was in central Ohio and weather dot com had predicted 100% chance of rain at 6 pm; not one drop fell. Take that, remnants of Hurricane Isaac! The bride was lovely and the ceremony went off without a hitch.

However…at the rehearsal dinner last night I asked the MOB what the bride’s colors were - “Oh, the bridesmaids are wearing eggplant purple.”. Yikes  . Sure enough, all 8 bridesmaids were in my exact shade. Fortunately they did not shop at TJ Maxx; they did have three different styles, none of which were all that close to my dress. Plus I’m about 30 years older than any of them. But I think the photographer was trying to figure out if I was part of the wedding party since I did seem to be in a lot of the candids she was shooting! I felt slightly guilty about my color but am probably the only one who cared.

I’d send a link to a photo of me and my dress if I knew which site was allowed on here for that.

Fortunately none of the food yesterday or today was all that good so I didn’t overeat meals per se. I did have too many pseudo cosmos (cranberry juice, vodka, and lime) and two “wedding tower” cupcakes. OTOH I danced a lot! Driving home after brunch tomorrow and it will be interesting to weigh in on Tuesday. I’m with the rest of you on a fresh start!

I’m back in the WLFD’s forum. It seems you are my best motivators because I keep finding ways to avoid the self improvement.

Son is dropped off at college and doing well so far; Daughter has been moved in Boston from a small studio on the fourth floor to a nicer apartment with bedrooms on the second floor. My husband and I helped her and her roomie move, so we have done our weight bearing exercise for the weekend. Boston is crazy with Aug. 31 move-outs and Sept. 1 move-ins! But I loved spending time with D.

Now on to my goals:
Use Livestrong.com / MyPlate to track my food so I can see where I stray.
Exercise more - getting leaner and lose 10 lbs of fat
Hydrate more consistently (I never drink enough water on my own)
Bonus: stop biting nails OR learn to meditate like in “Eat, Pray, Love”

OK, wedding is over and S2 is back at school. Time to get strict again. OTOH, I did walk all over NYC with the MOB all weekend, so that was good exercise!
