Anyway, glad we’re off AP Weightloss and back to Weight Loss for Dummies!

Ha ha, people think low-carbing is hard, I think rhyming is way harder! Congrats to all the weight losers – keep it up!

amtc - I plan on focusing on getting back into the exercise first. I found when I was exercising regularly, my eating kind of regulated itself. Probably because the exercise is a great stress reducer.

A week has passed by already?!

Maybe you eat less with the rhyming because you spend so much futile time trying to come up with the rhyming partner for what you crave?

Try balsamic vinegar on the strawberries for extra sweetness. Wait, is vinegar OK for carbs? speak in ignorance *have been winging it"

Hi! OP here! What great posts! I was out of touch due to my internet being down for two days so I just caught up on the last few pages. Today was weigh in day but my alarm didn’t sound today and I jumped out of bed at 8:01 and was at work at 8:12! No time to weigh in. I will tomorrow and will also measure my waist. I will say that I feel much better today than I did a week ago. My stomach feels smaller and I have more energy. I’m also sleeping better. I haven’t been counting calories and carbs and fat. I have just been making better choices about what I eat and have been shooting for smaller portions. I have been focusing on eliminating white carbs and cutting way back on all carbs. I also gave up the diet soda.

I did have a small piece of cake today at a retirement party but that was the first sweet all week.

For those of you who stayed the same weight…hang in there! Don’t give up! Start tracking what you eat. Sparkpeople.com or Livestrong is a good way to go. it might help you to figure out what is preventing the weight loss.

And yes, let’s remember to keep it simple here! I know I don’t want to read excruciating details about people’s diets and exercise. I’ll assume you don’t want mine either. Just tips and support and the weekly weigh in! Stay strong!!!

Weight loss for Dummies is great
We already cut down what we ate
The sweets we will miss
But thinner is bliss
So we’ll watch what we put on our plate!

How’s that for rhyming?

^^^^^^^

awesome!

No change here, but it has been a revelation to me how little water I drink within the confines of a day…

I just got back to weights today. I pulled a back muscle over Memorial Day weekend and had such terrible spasms, I spent several days lying down and have been very careful to rest it. But I think it’s important to do both strength training and aerobics. My usual routine is 45 minutes of machines, 30 minutes of elliptical 3 times a week. It’s not really enough. I try to throw in Planks and sometimes the rest of the routine from [Amazon.com: The New Rules of Lifting for Abs: A Myth-Busting Fitness Plan for Men and Women Who Want a Strong Core and a Pain-Free Back (9781583334133): Lou Schuler, Alwyn Cosgrove: Books](http://www.amazon.com/New-Rules-Lifting-Abs-Myth-Busting/dp/1583334130) . I’ve got 10# dumbbells at home and try to use them when I don’t get to the gym. I did about 1/2 an hour today without any twinges, so I’m hoping to get back to the routine. (I use heavier weights at the gym or machines.)

I’m actually amazed I didn’t gain weight this week since I got no exercise and last Sunday we had our neighborhood Block Party, Wednesday a friend got an unexpected gift of bluefish and we went over and ate it and between 5 adults drank 4 bottles of wine, and then yesterday the neighborhood association had their meeting, more wine, guacamole, sushi, shrimp, brownies and other yummy food. Our neighborhood has too many excellent cooks! Let’s not even discuss the chocolate dh brought back from Switzerland. (Though that I can actually ration pretty sensibly - party food not so much.)

Party food is the best.

I suggested dumplings as a “food from Macon” - rhymes with bacon.

Went to the gym tonight, and it felt great.

Momlive,
How do you heat up the scrambled eggs after you make a batch of them? Do you microwave them?

Mathmom - I have had really bad back spasms three times in my life. When one would come on, I was truly crippled. Have you ever read John Sarno’s book? I don’t buy everything, but I do focus on my breathing and I think that helps a little.

OOOH, I don’t even want to think about them! Hope this episode passes quickly for you!

I think I’m mostly recovered, but waking up every time I tried to roll over at night was not good for me! I’ve only had anything like this once before. I’m pretty sure I screwed up in my form with the barbell, but it could also have been something I did with those big balls - neither of which I use at our gym. It felt fine at the time…

Okay, I weighed in this morning and lost 2.5 lbs. Woo Hoo!

Mathmom, you need to stay away from those big balls.

LOL-- first thing I read this morning, before my head was really awake.

I couldn’t help myself!

EPTR - yes, I just dish out a serving and microwave it. Sometimes I will add cheese to it before microwaving to freshen it up.

There are several frozen egg products on the market. I can’t remember the brand but I had an egg white omelet a few weeks ago that was pretty good. Also, Jimmy Dean has a line of scrambled egg bowls that are yummy - they come in standard eggs and sausage variety all the way to their lite brand of egg whites and turkey sausage or an egg and ham bowl. They’re very high in protein. I use to eat these a lot but as with most prepared foods the sodium content is pretty high so I just eat them occasionally now. My blood pressure, always 90/60 has started to creep up in the last year so I’ve been watching my sodium intake.

I’m down 1.8 for the week. I’ve been cutting out most carbs but have not been counting carbs or calories. It’s probably just water weight but I will take what I can get. :)

I’m afraid to step on the scale still. I have to take dh to the doctor next week, and I’ll weigh there because the last time I weighed was there, a few weeks ago. Then, I’ll start back up at home.

I was able to resist sweets all week thanks to copious amounts of watermelon and sugar-free Jell-o, but tomorrow is Father’s Day and I always make dh a chocolate pie. No avoiding that.
